How do we find out what Sky is doing to correct issues with Glass?

I've had Glass for a couple of weeks now.
It's not as good as Q.
I know it's a new product and bound to have teething problems but surely Sky should be jumping on the issues and correcting them.
Also they can indicate to customers what they are doing to correct issues couldn't they ?

or maybe I have missed an article where Sky are responding to issues ?

Re: How do we find out what Sky is doing to correct issues with Glass?

I imagine Sky have hundreds of issues to look at regarding Glass, it's a new product after all.

I had a quick look in the Q forum and still see the same old issues in there too, but many in there are related to wifi I should imagine rather than the product these days, but Q has taken 4 odd years to get into a relatively stable product.

They did rollout a fix very quickly for the blinking screen issue for Glass, which for me was a sign at how quick they can move, however this fix in effect broke things for other people, so there's a balancing act between being agile and putting fixes out quickly, but getting enough testing in to ensure other things work.

I imagine that with Glass using a global develpment platform for Comcast there'll be a lot more resources to be able to develop fixes rapidly, so I imagine we'll see iterative, little and often, changes starting pretty soon.

The All4 issue for me at present is my biggest issue, followed by the way the content is inconsistently and haphazardly shown in the playlist, although there are many with stability issues.

Hopefully Sky will be prioritising these into fix and development streams areound the separate component of Glass and not rely on one dev team to do it all.

Re: How do we find out what Sky is doing to correct issues with Glass?

Anyone who had Q at/near launch will remember how troubled that launch was too, but that Sky did address many of the major problems pretty quickly.  If Q had been launched 6 months later, I think it would have been a much more mature product..

Sadly, they do seem to have repeated the error of launching a product too early, but hopefully we'll see big improvements in the near future.

I do wonder if the All4 issues are related to the Red Bee Media problems - that completely disrupted C4's on demand services (amongst other things) , so it could well be causing problems with the data feeds needed by Glass to find content.

Rather depends if the 'issues' are from manufacturing (dodgy stands, variable screen quality) or design (limited peak brightness, Playlist functionality).

Re: How do we find out what Sky is doing to correct issues with Glass?

My opinion is Sky Glass came to market 12 months too early.

Not enough in-house beta testing, and not enough beta testing in the wild blue yonder.

Now Sky have to juggle in keeping the sales momentum vs bad press and unhappy customers.

While at the same time fixing multiple issues with Glass.

I can only imagine the top executives doing their nut at such a failure. Well Sky you reap what you sow. Glass was advertised as a game changer, but at the same time Sky were tight lipped on terrestrial recording and were not very truthful that if a subscriber wanted terrestrial recording then that subscriber was at the mercy of terrestrial broadcasters getting their content into the cloud in a timely manner.

In a nutshell the BBC along with other terrestrial broadcasters have stitched Sky up like a kipper, in not exactly rushing getting programmes such as Strictly Come Dancing on a Saturday Night onto iPlayer until the early hours of Sunday morning. Who wants to watch content hours and hours after it was aired? Where with Sky Q folk can play it back instantly. What an absolutely joke.
