How customisable is the Sky Ultrafast Fibre router ??

Hi,

I have Ultrafast Plus Sky Fibre being installed in a couple of weeks.

I currently use an Archer C7 router (with BT Inifinity) that is connected the white modem. This is a great router with lots of customisable options (port forwarding, guest wi-fi, parental controls, etc, etc) and would ideally like to keep using post-fibre installation. From reading on here it sounds like it should be possible to use the C7 with Sky's Fibre product but I was just wondering what the router, Sky provide, is like in terms of customising it and being able to do the, above, stuff the C7 can do ?

The the Sky router almost a non-starter compared to the C7 ?

The sr203 has 4 ethernet ports. For fttp one is the wan port. Will need to check c7 for sky compatibility ... Not sure

The C7 should be compatible with sky but you may need to flash it with dd-wrt firmware . The sr203 has rudimentary router functions and is not readily customisable to the extent the c7 is

Thanks for that @cookiemonsteruk

I am reasonably confident - based on https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Broadband/Sky-FTTP-with-TP-Link-Archer-C6/m-p/3591559#M227529 - that the C7 will be fine with the out-of-the-box firmare. And that's good to know as it sounds like the Sky router is bit on the pathetic side.

All ISP-supplied routers are designed to offer few user options because the ISPs don't want to have to provide support for complex setups or rescue subscribers from self-inflicted misconfiguration.
