Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

It probably just a fluke but im running through a yamaha avr and HdMI audio. Not using optical at all but i set the optical out to normal then i set the optical delay to 20ms (hdmi on 0 delay) and i haven't noticed any cut outs on recordings over the weekend.  fingers crossed it continues.

I’ve noticed the comments refering to watchdog and rip off Britain have disappeared again!

if sky are so honest and transparent what do they fear?

You refering to your recent post (#1464) replying to @nickt99. It's still there.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

@simon194  thanks for looking back, i’m glad that one is still there, but in several other posts I  related my experience of contacting watchdog and rip off Britain, they soon disappeared.

i pointed out how simple the proccess was, and that at least it might get sky moving in the right direction

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

At the risk of annoying people, I posted on Feb 12th that, having suffered the same constant drop outs as everyone else, these stopped completely when the last Sky Hub firmware update happened (for me a few days before Feb 12th). I've been completely dropout-free since. Not on live TV, recordings, 4k Atmos Footie, nothing (I use my TV for apps as the Q is ridiculously slow navigating)

I'm sure my set up will be the same as some others who ARE still having problems, but, for what it's worth, I have Sky Q 2TB (ext. power supply), Sky Q Hub but wireless is turned off on the hub AND on the Sky Q (House wifi is handled by a separate router wired to the Hub). No mini boxes connected, Sky Q wired via a switch to the Hub. I have the Q set to 1080i unless I want to watch footie or the odd 4k programme.

None of this was any different before the drop-outs started so the only inconsistency in my set up has been the Q software version (which seemed to start the problem in my case) and the Hub firmware version (that SEEMS to have stopped the problem).

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

@ains  Although my setup differed from yours, for me too the sound drop outs started at the beginning  of November when I updated my 2tb box and the mini box as I always did at the beginning of each month

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

@Desdee
welcome to the Dropout Club!!!
Here's the bad news: there is no fix. Yet.
Here's the worst news: everyone on this forum (and this is not the first forum, they get overpopulated so they start again) has tried every combination and permutation of cables, filters, routers and configurations. You will not solve this.

Sky tell us they're on the case.
They have been on the case for a very long time.
You need to make a decision: either grin and bear it until a fix is finally found, or cancel your contract because of technical failings and not providing the full service sold to you.

I decided to wait it out in the hope of a fix being found before I die.

@Desdee Sky have suggested switching audio out to Normal. Half baked workaround that I am not going to do but I can imagine if it's happening a lot, it might keep you sane if it works.

Problem has got a lot less frequent for me. Only two in the whole of a UHD/HDR movie a couple of nights ago.

I also don't get the dropouts in live TV at all. Only recordings. Think I had one ever on live TV, since I got the HDR box.
