Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
I'm not going to renew after 20 years being a customer . I'm fed up with the constant sound drop outs, HDR problems, mini boxes losing connection , wi-fi issues and the worst thing I've just had an email saying my subs are going up £4 a month, it's a disgrace.
Even the wife who has always been strongly against getting rid of Sky agrees it's not worth the hassle.
Sky Q - substandard product with a premium price.
Sky Believe in better, that's a joke!

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
My replacement v1 2TB box when used on its own has had very few if any audio dropouts but the linked mini has just had 2 audio dropouts within a few minutes of each other - the sort when you rewind & replay the audio is there. Both boxes are in the same cabinet connected by ethernet to the same unmanaged switch.
Overall far far fewer dropouts than the v2 box it replaced & at the moment liveable with but does show that it is not just an HDR box issue although the HDR boxes do seem to have it a lot worse.

@Tonymarcus I really resonated with your post. I've joined and left sky some 5 times over the last 20 odd years. They never ever seem to get customer service right. It's always been substandard. The one time we would all appreciate them standing up and saying "we've messed up this time and need you to bear with us while we fix this... The timeline look like this... We will offer you .... To bear with us". Instead we get treated like idiots.

I totally agree with you pay something back to the customer and it would not hurt them to do it,would do more good than harm

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
@Dazzasky lol that's a fair observation. I suppose time is a great healer! I want it to work but when you get consistent crap service you leave. Just to put it into perspective @Dazzasky I was offered the full sky TV package for £14.99 a month to come back. Which I did, and now I will leave again, because some idiot in sky who is incharge of testing hasn't done his / or her job properly. Worth a punt I suppose but I certainly won't be sticking around.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
Sky should be embarrased as to how well Now TV works compared to their premier product...thankfully I bailed some years ago and had HD+ back.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
Sky HAVE stood up and acknowledged this issue, and have said just that and even invited a number of forum users to participate with them in fault finding and testing a solution.
I think stuff like this gets lost and quickly buried in the hundreds of people (understandably) regurgitating the same comments and frustrations

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
@Tonymarcus this is a premium subscription service not a charity. Great they have acknowledged a problem but not to me, no to many other users in this forum. The message is unacceptably inconsistent and we get offered nothing in return for our patience for this sub-standard service. I phoned sky 2 days ago and the customer service representative denied all knowledge of this issued and book me a 3rd engineers visit. #getyourheadoutoftheclouds

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
I recently upgraded to a v3 box, I have no minis connected, my system is hardwired and I am experiencing dropouts on Amazon, Netflix and live TV. I have WiFi turned off on my box.
The dropouts don't seem to follow any path, they can happen 3 times in a minute and then not for another hour or randomly every few minutes. They happen if I listen through headphones via Bluetooth or on my Sonos Beam.
Add me to the list of complainers!

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
I wonder, are they just recycling the boxes to buy time until possible fix?

@Stoatgobler wrote:When the virgin engineer fitted the mini box in our bedroom I asked why he was running coax cable up the wall to it when sky didn’t, and I was getting 516 mb broadband speed now off virgin he said it’s because of the wireless interference sky get, I told him I changed to virgin just because of the sound drop issues, he said that’s why they always fit the extra coax to stop sound drops or picture pixelation.
Looks like VM engineers are about as informed a some Sky installers. The coax on the new VM mini boxes is so they can get live TV. On-demand and the recordings on the main box are accessed via wifi.
There's been load of complaints for customers on the VM forums complaining they were told the minis were completely wifi when they signed up.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
Sky reached its peak with Sky+ HD. That was the beginning of the end I think. They are now trying to be all things to all men - streaming / BB etc but not really mastering any of these anymore. I think personally they know what the fault is but are hoping the problem goes away as it may be an expensive fix for them (if its hardware related).
They have enough customers not to worry if a few hundred or for that matter a few thousand cancel their subs. The new prices rise will more than cover that!
I'm fed up with them now even though I've loved Sky as a concept for nearly 30 odd years. Now they are pants!! Sorry but just a bit annoyed.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
As an aside the upgrade offer for an HDR box is no longer available to me on my offers. I wonder if there's been a temporary pause?
I still suspect it's a software issue but only time will tell.
