@SoupDragon57

I thought I read that this 15 update was hoping to alleviate some sound dropouts on v2 boxes? Isn't it 16 doing something with sound drivers on v3 boxes? So I guess it depends on what box you have whether or not you should have expected an improvement.....from your signature @SoupDragon57  you have a v3 but what about you @sambora71 ?

@Gammy123

I believe V3.

TBH I'm not really all that bothered which version it is, I just want to watch programmes with no sound dropouts as I pay for!

@Gammy123  @sambora71  To be honest, I'm just grateful it didn't get any new issues! Holding on for Q16

@sambora71 indeed mate....as we all are. Just with you saying that the Q15 update hasn't helped you so wanted to help with your expectations, that 15 wasn't ever going to help those of us with v3 boxes (me included)....as @SoupDragon57 mentions we've got to hold out for the q16 update. It better work otherwise I suspect Sky will lose a lot of customers (or those who have sound systems that want their surround / atmos to work without sound dropouts which as you say is what we are paying for).

Trying to cancel as speak after 4+ months of sound drops. Sky bod not acknowledging problem exists elsewhere and then is actually blaming the forum for inflating the existence of the problem.

Offering engineer visit yet again.... Hard to get through to them.

@MC90046 @Hard to see how we can be inflating a problem with their equipment 🤷‍♂️I've had this issue since getting Q in November 2020 .Sky have admitted the fault to me and discounted my bill👍.Just Hope software 16 will put an end to this issue 🤞.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

@MC90046 Interesting how Sky think this forum is inflating the problem. The fact that they have launched a survey for users to take part in to test possible solutions, and have acknowledged the problem, suggests otherwise.

I actually think Sky are working on a solution but it's the fact that you never get a straight answer from the tech dept that is so frustrating. When I asked what issues was Q160 addressing the woman on the phone had no idea and couldn't even say who would know.

That said, they have refunded the £50 fee I paid to upgrade from a v1 box to v3 (and now bitterly regret). Definitely worth anyone who has paid £50 asking for it to be refunded.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

In case anyone else has the same version of dropouts as me (I know not everyone does), now that Q15 has completed on my box, I'm dropout free again.

After partitioning my network, I was dropout free until a short time ago. Dropouts then started appearing again (something I have noticed starts happening when an update is available). Sure enough... once update is installed all is back to calm again.

Above behaviour has been consistent for me thru 3 software updates now 😊

Still no answer to this problem after now 4 months of a new tv & sound bar in place to enjoy hd viewing and noticing the issue. Can't believe the amount of time it's taking to solve tells me sky aren't too bothered.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

I've had the sound drop problem for ages now. I've just swapped my internet over to Vodafone Gigafast and observed that I still got dropouts. Worse still my Sky Q box was now regularly saying it had no internet connection whatsoever. My laptop was now also occasionally saying connected with no internet.

I found a few posts online about people saying that the Vodafone DNS servers were unreliable so I changed my DNS on my router to Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).

It's only been a day now but so far I haven't had any audio drops and my laptop is no longer giving me the connected with no internet error.

I'll post on here if I get any more drops, but in the meantime if anyone else wants to try this it may be worth a shot.

@CyberFriday I think @simon194 has had sound dropouts on a V 2 box and has stated that that with Q15 they seem to have stopped so far

All I still have are video glitches on live TV on some channels (ITV, Sky One , Sky Witness to name three) that cause audio dropouts. When recorded these manifest as skips in the video with no dropouts.

No idea if these are broadcast issues or not because it doesn't happen on all channels.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

Had my 15 update for a week now. Still getting sound dropouts ( but quite as bad as before ) BUT am ocaisionally getting  pixillating  on minibox which was not happening before. NOTHING seems to be right with SKY. Have made my six weekly phone call to the TECH GUYS  complaining bitterly but of course a total waste of time & as usual they don,t know anything about the problem.  Told them to look at all the comments on SkY COMMUNITY ( which they say they don.t have acess to). I think they must be liars as well. For my INCONVENIENCE they  have given me a £10 credit on my account ( BIG DEAL).

So to sum up I willconitnue to complain & hope that when UPDATE16 comes along it will solve these problems ( but i don,t think anyone,s holding their breath).
