Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreOut of interest I was one of the people that got Q16 on my mini for the trial but the main is still on Q15. However, I got the interim Q150.000.28.00L version and still not got Q16. I'm usually in the first tranche for updates but I'm still on Q15 on the main V3. Are the other people still on Q15 have the .28 version by any chance.

16 has arrived. As feared, no improvements in the lip sync settings. Oh sigh....

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreThat was not one of the listed fixes in Q160. It's been six years now that people have suffered that issue, and I don't believe that will ever be fixed as it's not audio delay that's needed, it's video delay which I suspect is a much more complicated thing to sort out. Plus Sky have never, ever commented on that, on here. That's definitely one they're keeping their head down about.
What's your set up?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreBeen on Q16 no sound dropouts no lip sync issues weren't experiencing any of the above prior to Q16 Q15 and any previous updates
Don't even use the settings on the Sky Q box as my free Black Friday Sky TV deal has plenty of options to deal with lip sync issues/settings.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreThat wasn't one of the listed fixes in Q160. It's been six years and some people are still suffering from lip sync. It's something that needs video delay, not audio delay, and I suspect that's more complicated.
It is however something that can be impacted by people's set ups (ie how their Sky box is connected, audio settings on TV and Sky Q box, soundbars, AV, use of HDMI ARC, optical, etc). That's why for some it's an issue and for others it's not there.
I had to get an HDMI ARC to optical converter (only £20) to allow me to connect my soundbar by optical to the HDMI ARC port of the TV. Once I did that, and set the TV to passthrough, the lip sync disappeared.
So there are solutions. But it shouldn't be necessary of course.

I got Q160 and had my first night of glitch free viewing last night. I guess that as more people get the update this thread will come to a close.
I must say that when it works I really like Sky Q. I cancelled Sky TV in January and couldn't find anything to beat it, at least where I live. I still don't watch many actual Sky programs but the number of additional HD channels, Sky Go and the ease of using Q couldn't be beaten. There's always some additional functions we'd like but I think that's true of virtually everything.
Every tech company has software problems (is anyone expecting Windows 11 to be bug free?) but it's how they own and manage the issue that makes a difference. Sky failed miserably in that respect. It doesn't matter what deal or discounts I get, I expect the basic service to work, or at least know it will be fixed. If Sky have a similar problem in the future I will cancel again and next time I may find something better.
Let's hope we all have many years of trouble free viewing ahead.

I applied for Q160 test, but my main Q box is still on Q150.000.28.00L like yours. Forced update does nothing either. Gave up with mini and sent it back to Sky, so that never got upgraded.

Our main box was also on Q150.000.28.00L and we only got the trial on our mini too but our main box got Q160 a couple of days ago so hang in there.

@Spectre01 On the thread closure point. I reckon that the honour of declaring this thread closed should go to @Gridders as he was pivotal in keeping the issue alive by starting this thread after Sky archived the original one. And if folks develop other issue with Q160 then another thread can be created (there may already be one, I haven't looked).

It's been a long journey on the road to know drop outs but it sounds better now
