I completely agree with the comments @Pogit and others have made about Sky's response to the dropouts problem. Only last week an agent I spoke to denied knowing about the problem and asked if I have a Samsung TV as there's a known problem with them. I just said ok and goodbye. Phoned next day and got someone who knew about the problem and was helpful. I don't blame the agent, I blame bad management communication, whether intentional or just incompetence.
The only thing I'll add to this is let's be thankful for forums like this where people can raise the issues we're having and start to form a pattern. If this happened 20 years ago and the Sky 'expert' told you the problem was with your TV how would you ever know any different? It's a shame more people don't use the forums, I suspect there are many people living in blissful ignorance of this problem and think it's just 'one of those things'. Sky must love customers like that.
At least the fix is on the way now.

@rscott i am aware of customers who had audio issues with sky plus hd 2 tb boxes and the audio break up talking under water problems. All related equipment changed along with the sky box yet the issue persists. The only fix is to rewind, even if it's only a fraction
Are you saying 16 won't fix that ?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Lawrence+cope I didn't wait years. About 9 months maybe since I got a v3 box, but frankly the "you don't have internet connection" problem is way more annoying than this one.
If I didn't have a workaround for that, I'd have hoyed the thing out of the window by now.

@Rhonny Sorry badly worded
garbled audio, asi see it described elsewhere, was an issue on plus 2 tv box, that continued with Q even though the tv amp and all else had been upgraded to uhd
then we get the drop outs as well. Moments of 1 or 2 seconds of silence
as my other thread... what exactly is 16 expected to fix? Obviously not sky plus. I'm assuming they have another update for that under way?

Q160 has fixes for the v3 audio issues, pixelation on mini boxes , SSDP network floods and various other minor tweaks.
There won't be any fixes for Sky+HD - development of that platform has pretty much completely stopped.

@Chodley Well actually I didn't pay a penny for my V2 (and the mini that accompanied it) or the V3 that replaced it both had the sound drop outs btw.
I have rarely paid more than £1 for my sky equipment (which I own/Ed) and would never pay to get loaned equipment like SkyQ inc P&P as that should be built into the subscription and marketing budgets of a service.
Also SkyQ is not an upgrade even sky admit that now amazingly but that's probably due to complaints made but don't start me on that one today please as we all know I won't be able to stop myself for a good few hours. <<<<Sky that's how you admit and own your flaws..

The amount of data harvest through the boxes now you most certainly did but as I'm sure some on here will soon shout out that was your choice you didn't have to, it's a premium service, blah blah blah.
Hey good news my main box and mini still seems to be behaving well on Q160 still early days (for me) but even with everything fully enabled the only audio problems I've noticed is on a couple of broadcast programs usually it would have had substancal issues by now. I still think it was a handshake/network/overload issue. So hang in there those still waiting hopefully more people will get it tomorrow....

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Pogit Already got Q160 on my V2 box but unlike you never experienced sound dropouts all connected wirelessly with Sky BB and also two mini boxes
Still early days for you but you come across as though you are wanting it to fail.
21 Jun 2021 10:04 AM
100% don't want it to fail, just cautious as I know it can behave well for a few days after a restart. But like I said with everything enable I would normally have seen more problems and the mini is behaving much better too. I think think the fact some have given clues to what the issue was / fix is suggests the problem has been identified and fixed and so far (I think) all have said it has. I personally would really like to know more details of the fix so credit and I guess blame (to a lesser extent) can be given and assurances that steps have been put in place to avoid this whole debacle happening again in a dreaded variant.

Furious though I am about…
a) SkyQ's missing features and tortuous UI
b) frequent audio and video glitches
c) wasted hours on wild goose troubleshooting
d) £100 lost on unecessary HD and cable upgrades
e) Sky's shamefully slow confession to ownership of these technical problems
f) the interminable time it took to produce a fix; and most of all…
g) Sky's shoddy, evasive and inconsistent comms…
…I nonetheless still think that SkyQ is very good over 90% of the time and has the potential to be great. And I accept that I have been effectively a beta tester - from which my children and their children will presumably benefit.

I agree with most of that.
For the first time in nearly a year of having Sky Q, I can finally say that the hardware is no longer "not fit for purpose."

I just hope they don't break all the good work when the finally fix the really poor HDR drop-out issue in Q17...
