@royco @I think your right about these same boxes going round in circles being "recycled!" I asked sky this ,they said all boxes are brand new.One of the three I've had ,the box had been opened and the feet scratched so didn't look new to me.

Been trying to post for 5 minutes lost internet! Perfect WiFi signal 🤔as soon as I turned  my phones WiFi off went straight through on 3G .Sky's fibre is as intermittent as the Q box since I had it connected .

@Stuvennn on one hand it's great that Sky have acknowledged the problem.

However,  week 1 day 1 of customer service is communication, and that is completely lacking.

No apologies, no assurances, no timescales.

Failing on the most basic customer service level.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

A few people on this thread, myself included, have also mentioned a screen flicker / flash which I thought was all part of the same problem with Sky Q. However, my Sony tv had a software update today that amongst other things ....

  • Prevents unexpected, intermittent screen flashes that could occur when watching certain content

If you have a Sony Android TV and also get the flashing picture, this might help. So far mine seems to be fixed!

Now to get Sky to sort out the sound drop outs.......

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

@Stuvennn on one hand it's great that Sky have acknowledged the problem.....

The problem is sky are not admitting the problem. when I cancelled sky in January they asked what they could do after I refused the 60% discount, I said nothing till the sound drop outs are fixed, the guy I spoke with was totally unaware of it. I also complained about it both by email, and on the phone in early November, again the lady I spoke with had no idea and went through the scripted checklist of changing leads and output settings etc

this either shows complete incompetence that the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing through lack of communication, or they won’t admit it because it obliges them to fix it at considerable cost.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

Have had sound dropouts with a replacement V2 box also sound and picture dropouts on uhd football with atmos.

I ran sky technical who had not heard of this problem so arranged for an engineer visit.

The engineer said he had never come across this problem before. I showed him the amount of complaints on the forum so he said he would log an official report to sky.

Since I have tried all remedies suggested in this post he gave me a replacement V2 box.

I swapped it out and started it up. The firmware was Q120.002.13.00L so I decided not to update to see if the new firmware is the cause of problems.

According to the engineer if i set the Eco to none it won't update itself overnight. (We shall see.)

So far today it has been perfect, all that is missing is HDR which to be honest is no great loss as I use my TV for apps.

Hopefully I'll run this firmware as long as I can without updating but now I am loath to update it to show the new firmware to be the problem when I now don't seem to have any problems.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

It seems there’s no communication between sky employees regarding this sound issue, even the virgin engineer who installed my boxes was aware of it saying that’s why we install coax cable to the upstairs box too.

people now seem to be downgrading their packages, at this rate sky will be offering a package that consists of an Amstrad box with a Sanyo Betamax video recorder, with half price scart leads if you sign up to setanta sports!

My mini box is the same. I thought it was my tv as it is quite old,  swapped to a newer tv than I has in house and still doing it
