Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

@CyberFriday @Have you tried the quick pause/play on live TV to reproduce the problem. I can pretty much guarantee to make sound drops occur when doing this method. Would be interesting if you can recreate the issue this way with your Draytek

@tsang2000  Haven't tried the pause/play on live broadcast. Will give it try later and update.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

Sorry, lots of stuff on sky is streamed - anything in UHD OTHER THAN THE SPORTS IS streamed and I have this problem with RECORDED AND STREAMED STUFF.

You can tell it's streamed because you can't play it instantly, it starts to download and when you have enough downloaded, it tells you that you can watch it.

Also, in terms of the problem, we have the three possibilities - the hardware, the firmware and the software. One way of understanding this is to think about your PC - you have the hardware, the PC itself, Windows, which is the firmware and, say, Office, which is the software. The firmware is the stuff that sits between the hardware and the software and makes it possible for the software to work. I'm guessing it's either the firmware or the software that is the problem.

My replacement box comes tomorrow, so it will be interesting to see if there is any change - will probably need a week to be able to see.

I dont get the issue when using the pause/play that some are getting. My issues are on downloaded, recorded shows and streaming via Netflix, Prime & Disney. Issue happens no matter what the sound broadcast is (stereo, DD or DD+)

@The+boy+himselfSorry but you are wrong, Netflix etc are streamed as you watch them directly from the internet.

All other content except live transmission is not streamed, it is downloaded and you watch it later, Later may be when it says available to view or any other time.

The problem that can happen particularly with 4K downloads is that it can take ages to download and if your internet is slow you can try to watch it faster than it can download.

Solution don't watch downloads until the download has finished.

It could be argued that it is streamed to mini  boxes as it uses the sky mesh, but this does not apply to 4K as you can't watch it on mini boxes.

@bob1234like many people I don't get the sound drops on TV apps only Q apps so box must be causing the issue?

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

Just posting an update. We were given a 1TB UHD box even though we only subscribed to HD. Was getting split second audio cuts on recordings and Netflix.

Turning off WiFi using the service menu has significantly improved this for us. In the last week I've noticed maybe 2 audio drop outs in total. I say 'maybe' because they seemed much less noticeable and I'm not certain it wasn't just me imagining it.

I appreciate not everyone can turn off the WiFi if other devices are linked, but it seems to have solved our issue.

Mini boxes disconnected in the kitchen about five times today. Can't be **bleep** with it anymore. Causing me so much unwanted stress. Not only that, my SUPERFAST FIBRE BROADBRAND (with BB checker) has been crawling along at between 2mbps and 15mbps when it should be between 55-70

THE BOXES ARE BROKEN! Recall NOW!

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

Just been looking at You Tube and videos with folks having q/mini connectivity issues. And one i watched highlighted the risk of "over sharing" or "to much information". During one of the scenes he is flicking through source selection on his remote tv and there are other sources shown.  And there are two that suffice to say viewer discretion is advised, over 18s only 😉 Made me chuckle in the midst of this fiasco....

Well that engineer's visit wasn't great.

Had the tv and ancillaries pulled out of the corner doing a new year caa as blue tidy up.
engineer showed up, and swapped the box.
I had loads left to do, so did a quick connection of cables, checked recordings, paired remote, etc. Everything was grand, so the engineer left.
A couple of hours later I updated the software.
Downloaded Gangs Of Lemur Island for a test...no HDR.

Checked settings, etc. and it was then I noticed the hardware version was 32B0!

He has swapped out my V3 for a V1!

I contacted him directly afterwards and the only 32B2 box he had was a 1TB UHD box!

Had to ring customer service this morning to get things sorted. Because it was an engineer visit, it needs to be fixed by another visit. I asked if they can just post me out another, like they did the original, but no joy.
Next free appointment? January 20th!

It also doesn't like being hardwired through a switch for some reason. If I connect direct to the router, I get approx. 92mbps download (stupid v1 box with its 10/100 port!).
But through the switch, I can't get a signal. My tv gets a signal, as does my Shield Pro.
But despite restarting, changing ports, changing cables, I can't get it to connect through the switch.
Fierce annoying.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

Today I've had the audio drop outs and audio lag while watching the football live on BBC 1 HD.

The audio lag and picture stutter is getting worse on the q mini box, it seems to be getting worse by the day

We use an iPad in the next room to where the sky box is located, it is connected via WiFi to watch the sky go app.

The iPad shows full WiFi and does not have connection issues when using Netflix

When I get the audio drop outs the picture sometimes stutters but most of the time it doesn't

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

I know there was a previous post about using Virgin instead of Sky. For those of us who don't have that option then there are options. Now the downside is that you have to do some research to work out which ones are right for you and how you want to view them/device compatibility etc. But, on the plus side most offer a monthly pay option and you aren't locked into a 12/18/24 month contract...

Apple TV, although you do need to be careful of what TVs and other devices support the Apple App,

I am going to try using the free trial on my tv with browser access as my TV doesn't support the app.
