Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

So the new software update hasn't fixed anything...

Still getting drop outs on both live AND recorded content.  Actually recorded contenet drops quicker than live (I actually got a whole HALF a match tonight! Wooo me!)

@Darren+Talbot the update Q180 wasn't meant to fix this problem all it was was some back end changes to the system and nothing else

I may be a Sky Superuser but I am still just a Sky customer

Sky Q 2 TB (Silver)Box, 2 Mini boxes since June 2016, all connected by wifi
Sky Broadband Hub/SR203, Sky Ultrafast broadband
Ultimate on Demand, Q Experience/UHD, Sky Sports, Sky Cinema
LG 49SJ 810 V UHD TV, Google Pixel 7 Pro mobile

And to fix whatever was wrong for the v1 boxes.

Hi just thinking out loud about HDR dropping out, would it be worth buying a more expensive HDMI cable? Has anyone e tried and has it worked for some people?

More expensive does not equal better when it comes to HDMI cables.

A faster cable may help, but you really don't need to spend a lot of money on them.

It might be worth a go. You can get a certified HDMI 2.1 cable for less than a tenner which will be wildly over-specced for Sky Q, but you never know, it might work.

I don't watch live sport so I don't know if it will make any difference or not. The only live UHD HDR sport I've seen was some of the Olympics last year and the HDR never dropped out for me, and that was using the HDMI cable supplied with the Q box.

Re: HDR programming stops being HDR durinf the programme

Hi guys just an update for you I received my new 8K compatible 2.1 hdmi cable today as a last ditch attempt to see if this would se the problem on HDR dropping out on my Philips TV, I have plugged it in and have checked all, Netflix Disney plus Apple + and sports and I amhappy to report that this has solved the issue for me so far. The lead ibought was £12.99 and when it came the quality is very good as soonas ingredients in I could see a massive difference in colour just on normal sky. I'm not saying g this is going to solve everyone's problems but for £12.99 it's worth a shot, if anyone wants the link let me know and I'll post on here.

Re: HDR programming stops being HDR durinf the programme

Well guys as much as I thought those was working I'm afraid the problem still exists, albeit not as much as previously it only now happens every 10 to 15mins rather than every 3 to 5 mind  ohh well at least i had two full hours of no drop outs and now its back to relying on Sky to resolve 🙄🙄🙄, whenever that may be!!

I'm really bored of this now I just want to actually just watch tv given the ridiculous amount it costs.

Re: HDR programming stops being HDR durinf the programme

Anyone had any luck with this?

It's interesting to me that the first 2 F1 races in HDR have not failed on me, all the way through the weekend and all the various shows it's stayed on.

Football still does it every time without fail and shows and movies too.

I can't understand why (unless it's been a fluke) F1 would show ok when it clearly is a hardware/software issue.
