Re: Glass as a second TV?

@Laing1

Sky 'Care' is under the impression these 'promotional' prices are for NEW Sky customers only.

A week to launch and staff don't know the facts?.

Anyhow it's too expensive for me by choice, I'm buying a house to keep the Sky out, my apartment however can't get Sky dishes, Glass apart from the misinformation  everywhere is a good enough product bar it's Sky non 4 year 0% warranty issue but it overshoots the mark as most people want a £50 'puck'/30 day contract not a expensive TV as they already have one.

Sky NOW 4K £50, nope from £13 a

month plus sub.

Guess Android box sales are away to go through the roof with Sky 4K Glass being the only upgrade for millions. What a wasted opportunity to have Sky 4K IPTV.

Execution is everything (same withcustomer care).

Glass TVs are wall-mountable, by Sky wont do it for you.

There's a whole bunch of 'facts and figures' at https://www.sky.com/glass and https://www.skygroup.sky/skyglassmedia

Re: Glass as a second TV?

I've looked at the link every day, only gives you limited options, don't say what I'm going to pay with package I have etc, guess we will have to wait till Monday

yea I see the info about having to fit the TV to a wall yourself.... a 30kg tele on your own, who's gonna pay £150 for someone to do it you can't even get hold of and the TV will just sit in your house on the floor until you have 2 pros to do it for you, not sure im on that 🤨

Re: Glass as a second TV?

@Minkyman23 Precisely. No more than 30kg. Any friend will help you get it on the wall in two shakes. I trust myself more than a delivery man.

The second link has pricing in the 'Reviewers Guide', but there's no way generic literature can cope with all the possible variations.

Re: Glass as a second TV?

Yea agreed but you thought they would know the pricing structure at least when you call in?

Re: Glass as a second TV?

Hi all this sky glass tv looks amazing but I am now thinking maybe not. I have sky q box in my livingroom and two minis upstairs one in my sons room and one in our room.
I have posted many things in this forum before about changing my main box to the 1tb uhd box or the 2tb because me and my son can't wait sky upstairs at the same time!! Hence changing the main box...

but then I thought why don't we get sky glass for our room and send the mini q box back to sky..! Well...

ive just read on here that the sky glass tv is a new separate subscription to sky and you can't have two at the same address! We pay a decent amount for sky, broadband etc I even have an iPad on contract from them. I love you sky I think they are amazing but come on sky whyyyyyyyyyy..! Why do we need a different subscription for the glass tv!

@Kop1984 I think you might have misunderstood. Sky Glass replaces Sky Q, all of your Sky Q boxes are returned and, in your case, you would need a Sky Glass TV and 2 Sky Pucks (which are effectively mini boxes), a new Glass subscription replaces your Q subscription and you can all watch at the same time.

Re: Glass as a second TV?

Has anyone actually heard from Sky about Sky glass ? Not sure what their plan and logic is currently ....

Re: Glass as a second TV?

@Minkyman23

they really don't seem to have one past the Glass idea which is a good hardware idea but the account and strange charging implementation itself goes against Sky itself, it's open for all apparently if you want to spend £13+ a month then £26+ on content

I mean the marketing advertising is all over the place and they are saying you must have been with us 8 years to get a invite to order lol??

How not to execute, implement and advertise a product = Glass.

Such a Sky 'streaming' product launch failure, roll on the box/app which by default is how streaming actually works not a Sky Television.

Hopefully they will introduce a for the masses Sky streaming app with special price offer 3 months access for the Xmas market because that would make sense and give you a platform of accounts to sell a actual Sky 4K box to next year for TVs that don't have casting access in the house.

Really this all should have been executed better than here's a TV to buy (for 8+ year customers) - people with Sky already have TVs - DOH! Imagine telling someone on £100+ a month Sky sub/s "sorry you can't have this as you haven't been with us 8 years on TV, nope your broadband or mobile doesn't count either"

I mean great idea on paper, missing a cam slot for those who will require Sat, no Sky Mobile 'download' modem slot extra either.

I'm saddened for Sky. Comcast haven't a clue what to do with it which is ironic as they are IPTV like Virgin Media in the USA, it's all rather haphazard Apple wannabe, that's no plan or logic.

Roll on actual Sky IPTV because a Glass TV isn't IPTV, it's some mad moment the board had and no one went "oh hold on, this isn't Sky nor IPTV".

Sky NOW puck, please move yourself off the assembly line straight to sales thank you very much.
