Never gonna happen. Isn't 2TB enough?!?! Do some people really have time to watch that much TV?

Sky would also have to make sure the disc content would have to "self distruct" once Sky no longer have a licence to use particular content.

Just too complicated and would also need a mod to the boxes so the USB port was fully functional.

And a file system that can handle such external devices, and a database to keep track of location, and a GUI to allow users to migrate content between storage areas as space changes...

Ultimately, Sky internal hard drives have always been intended to facilitate time-shifted viewing, not content archiving.

@Lord-Ice  You didn't ask for help. You made a request. We're just customers on this forum and have no sway over any hardware or software decisions Sky make.

Sometimes the only 'help' available may well be an explanation of why a thing isn't possible or suggestions as to why it's very unlikely: that doesn't make the responses any less valid.

Also interesting to note that some models of Sky+ HD box were fitted with an eSATA port, which does suggest external storage was being considered. My guess would be that the content rights holders objected, as increased Sky storage space would inevitably reduce their chances of selling the same content on optical disk.
