We needed to reduce our monthly outgoings. The sales guy who helped us said there wasn't much difference between standard and HD so we dropped the HD charge. However, any time we try to watch/download something on catch up, it defaults to HD which we can't get. We then have to go to "All Formats" to try and get the standard version and sometimes it doesn't work!! Why does it default to HD when we don't have HD and why isn't everything available in non-HD (I'm not having issues with blockbuster style programmes - just things like Hollyoaks & Catchphrase)?? Also we can't seem to series link the non-HD versions or "watch next" - it keeps trying to default to HD again!! Please help, it's not fair that we can't just enjoy TV with the package we have

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreThere is an issue at the moment with some new and renewed customers not being able to download in SD (or HD despite having the HD pack).
You'll need to call Sky and get them to send a refresh signal to your viewing card. If that doesn't work, they will escalate the issue.

I'd suggest on any halfway-decent modern television that's simply not true. HD is now the mainstream format, which is why the system defaults to it.
