@Doc5907  Sadly no UHD from BBC as per @Rhonny post.

@Doc5907

This from Monday's TechAdvisor.com in relation to the BBC's Olympics coverage - looks like no UHD, let alone HDR/HLG:

According to an interview with Ron Chakraborty, Lead Executive, Major Events at BBC Sport in ibc.org, the plans to “backhaul 4K streams back to the UK for production was deemed too costly in terms of bandwidth.”

Re: Eurosport 4K listings

Just flicked on Eurosport 1 and then selected the UHD version. It's glitching every few seconds with either dropped frames or added frames, difficult to tell. Just me?

@Grot+Shot  No, it's a Europsport issue affecting their UHD stream both on Sky & Astra 19E

Re: Eurosport 4K listings

I find watching sport on TV utterly tedious but I just had a quick look at some women's football on Eurosport - looked very nice. The UHD was pin sharp and HLG offered a nice pop of colour so it's good to see that it works, but that'll be all the Olympics I'll watch thanks...

Just a shame Sky couldn't make their own original UHD drama content look as good.

@fizzdisco

I thought the Sky Original Intelligence in UHD HDR looked fantastic. A comedy drama, of course, not drama, but a very good picture.

@Rhonny

Agreed - it was quite nicely graded. Shame about the acting, plot, and complete lack of comedy. David Schwimmer was an embarrassment to watch. Absolutely painful. I gave up after ep1. I'm astonished it got a second series.

Re: Eurosport 4K listings

@fizzdisco

I have to wholeheartedly disagree with you. It's fantastically enjoyable, and I'm very hard to please when it comes to comedy. It's clever, very well-written and produced, great timing, brilliant swings from comedy to pathos, and the final episode of each series has great poignant moments that show the insecure man under Schwimmer's character's bravado.

You can't get a handle on any new series, or form any attachment to characters, from watching just one episode.

Anyway, this isn't the What's On forum.

Re: Eurosport 4K listings

Finding the picture on 4K massively washed out. Almost like there's a mist. HD colour is much more vibrant. Don't think it's my settings because other 4K content is great. Any thoughts?

Re: Eurosport 4K listings

That's exactly what iam seeing. Its a sharp pictures but Theres no colours really popping, like Neflix hdr. Picture just looks a bit dull. Seems to be like this on HLG uhd for all sports streams ive seen. Even Bbc hdr was hlg and the pictures look very simular

Re: Eurosport 4K listings

Nothing washed out on my HDR picture on Eurosport, it's superb.

I did have that issue watching iplayer HLG for the Euros football. I saw a suggestion to make sure Dynamic Tone Mapping is on (for an LG tv). I checked and it was off. Switched it on and suddenly picture was great.

Re: Eurosport 4K listings

@murrayrj86@blade+the

Sounds like you need to turn the HLG's Gamma down a couple of steps in your Picture Settings, as I mentioned I'd had to do in my post earlier.

@murrayrj86UHD and UHD HLG use completely different picture settings, so it could very well be your picture settings, as described above.

Re: Eurosport 4K listings

@Pat+Gleeson

Great. Sometimes that's all it needs.

You can always adjust the colour, contrast to your taste so that it changes to this each time HLG kicks in. Just don't turn backlight/brightness down or it will defeat the fundamental aspect of HDR/HLG.
