Eurosport 4K listings

Anyone getting a black bar at the top of the screen when watching in 4K on Eurosport?

Do you have an HDR box and watching in HDR ?

I don't have an HDR box & I popped over during one match and found the picture very noticebly washed out - I haven't tried playing with all the TV picture settings - although I did try setting the colour space in case that was the issue - which it wasn't

I am not sure I will bother watching in 4K non HDR if I can't quicky get a better image than HD - maybe I will have a play with the other settings but I am not actually holding my breath

Is there anyway to set up recordings for the 4K channel? Wanted to set it up to record the opening ceremony in UHD. Normally for Sky Sports UHD you can go through "other showings" but nothing is showing for Eurosport.

If you go to Sports in the drop down menu and go right on the Live Sport this Week rail it is there after the BBC entry.

This is why I hate the topic of HDR. No-one bothers to research their own TV's handling of HDR/HLG and so just blames Sky/Eurosport for their picture when it is a thing of gorgeous beauty. As I've mentioned, if it's too washed out/misty, just turn down the Gamma (or your TV's equivalent), and if colour or contrast need adjusting to help it pop then do so. But don't adjust the brightness or backlight.

Scroll right until you get to Eurosport Tokyo 2020 4K

Just use voice and say 'olympics'
Brings up a dedicated Olympics page. It has had a yellow/gold background for a few days, but is now blue.
There is a dedicated UHD/HDR Eurosport rail, showing the UHD/HDR repeats but also all live UHD/HDR until mid next week. 

Next up today is the Opening Ceremony in UHD/HDR

Nice write up on Forbes. 

"More than 200 hours of 4K HDR content is set to be broadcast live on Sky Q boxes across the Games’ 16 days of competition". 

Also says Sky have confirmed HDR for the start of the new Premier League season

Very interesting, and also interesting that there are 55 live and on demand Olympics streams on the Discovery+ app. 

Maybe I was the only person who didn't already know that!

The same Sky employee who I quoted previously (pretty sure they post on here as well), has confirmed Premier League coverage in UHD HDR from 13th August with DD 5.1 and Atmos.

Might need to buy a new soundbar...

It is (of course) broadcast in HLG HDR (an BBC/NRK HDR broadcast format) and give an excellent picture (assuming you have a TV capable of reprodicing HLG).

You must be lol... Even I had heard about discovery+ doing the Olympics 

To compare pictures I just logged into D+ app. I had to put a code into webpage to re-pair (mind you its probably first time I tried d+ since about January......so I been getting a lot of use there!

Anyway in order of PQ on opening ceremony :

1. Eurosport 4k/HDR - Unsurprising really.  Excellent sharp picture with vivid colours 

2. BBC HD - good quality HD

3. Discovery + - Not great. Poor HD (if it even is HD).... Looking again it is SD.

Eurosport commentators gave up around Thailand and sound still breaking occasionally..... Not a great sign of things to come..... Picture still good though !
