Ethernet connection to main box dropping every few seconds?!
So we had lots of problems last year and resorted to setting up ethernet connections between main sky Q box and 2 mini boxes via 3 deco mesh routers. At the time I turned off all WiFi options on all 3 boxes in the engineer settings. Life was good afterwards until this week. The main box is disconnecting from the wired connection every few seconds and you can sit watching in the settings it flick back and forth from a tick to a cross again and again. This is obviously causing issues with the mini boxes. Broadband is via Vodafone. Absolutely no issues with our internet speed/stability and the Ethernet cables work fine with other devices. The issue is definitely caused by the sky equipment.
i went back into the settings and WiFi had turned back on. Have turned all WiFi back off again. Main box says connected to a sky network and can't get it to say it's connecting to our Vodafone network. One mini box is also saying connected to a sky network whilst the other mini box says that it is connected to our Vodafone network.
I'm at a loss as to how to stop the main box from constantly disconnecting from a very stable wired connection?! Or is the box toast? (We are on our 3rd main box and I'm fed up of losing our recordings) I also don't understand why despite having WiFi turned off on everything, 2 of our 3 boxes do not say they are on our Vodafone network??

Re: Ethernet connection to main box dropping every few seconds?!
Hi @LOOPY76ONLY
Forget about what Network is shown in the Q box Status as this is a historic Q mesh ID.
Best way to lose Q box WiFi is to carry out a Network reset on the Q box with the Ethernet connected. Do not carry out any WPS and as soon as the box is connected after the Network reset then go into the Hidden menu and turn off both bands of WiFi.
Network Reset found in Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side.
Start with the main Q box and remember
- Do not carry out any WPS
- Immediately after the box has connected after reset go into the hidden menu and turn off both bands of WiFi. Confirm before exit

Re: Ethernet connection to main box dropping every few seconds?!
I have already tried doing this reset and then turning the WiFi off on the box again and it's not resolved it. (Tried it several times just for good luck but made no difference!)

Certainly must be some issue with your Ethernet Connections then @LOOPY76ONLY
Other thing I should have mentioned is after the Network reset and turning off the WiFi , reboot each Q box.
To reboot press Standby on your Sky Q remote (if the box responds to the remote), and then switch off and unplug at the mains.
Wait at least 30 secs and then Plug back in and switch your Sky Q box back on at the mains.
Wait for the on screen instructions to disappear and the front led to turn Amber. Then wait for 30 secs before you press Home on your Sky Q remote.
note: some features may take up to 5 minutes to return.

Re: Ethernet connection to main box dropping every few seconds?!
I have now tried resetting the main box again, then turning WiFi back off on the main box, then powering it and both mini boxes off for 15 minutes. Powered on the main box and it's still on and off constantly, have just taken a video of it to add here. Have powered both mini boxes on after the main box and still happening (as wasn't sure if doing one box at a time would help but nothing seems to be solving this issue!)

Re: Ethernet connection to main box dropping every few seconds?!
Hi @LOOPY76ONLY
I think you need to try a full Ethernet lead from your router to your Q box to test and isolate the issue.
Looks like your Powerline is not up to the task

Re: Ethernet connection to main box dropping every few seconds?!
I am not using power line. I am using Ethernet directly from a tp link deco m9plus router that is about a metre from the main box. Router is working fine. Ethernet worked fine when tested with laptop earlier. It's just the sky q box that seems incapable of staying connected.

Yes sorry @LOOPY76ONLY
Didn't read the whole thread again.
I would still suggest you try a direct Ethernet connection to test

It is direct from main sky q box into a mesh router

Re: Ethernet connection to main box dropping every few seconds?!
@LOOPY76ONLY Snap. I have a 32c006 1Tb box, all wifi disabled. Ethernet from the q box to the router. i made it 10 times a minute.....I don't have any minis and i don't notice any issues with other internet connected kit on my network. So, for me this has to be another q box issue. Or perhaps as Sky would say a "feature".

Re: Ethernet connection to main box dropping every few seconds?!
I have exactly the same issue on my Sky Q box - it is the SkyQ box in my view.
I have the SkyQ box, Samsung TV, Sony BlueRay Player & an Amazon FireTV all connected via ethernet to an 8 port switch. The switch connects directly via ethernet to the router. I have changed ports, changed ethernet cable and run a direct cable to the router - all makes no difference. I must conclude this is a "feature" as we all have the same issue.
I have a more complex set up here as I have two ISP connections which are supported by a Draytek 2860n router. The Draytek is set to "load balance" across the two connections which delivers 140MB download & 34MB upload to devices on my LAN that can support multiple connections. I have had to force the SkyQ box to route down one ISP only as any downloads kept failing - I assume the IP address was not always the same when the device connected (frequently). The material effect was I would recieved "Account Not Authorised" on download content such as on Sky Atlantic. I have spoken to Sky Technical and we soon got beyond their understanding.

Did you ever get to the bottom of this issue?
Got the same happeing on a Draytek 2860 via cable.

Re: Ethernet connection to main box dropping every few seconds?!
My setup remains as per my original post (with the Q Box routed to single ISP via Draytek config) - have just re-checkled the status of Q Box connection and it is showing connection as stable.
I assume you have two ISP connections, one of which is cable, and you have enabled "Load Balancing"?
If this is the case then route the IP address of the Q Box to one ISP connection - even though I found the cycle on / off was still happening the Q Box worked.
What I now find of interest is the fact my connection has stabalised (only re-checked it because of your message just now) as I have made no changes since my last message.
