Ethernet connection for mini box

Hi I am trying to rig up a tv to a garden room at the bottom of my garden to get sky sports etc my question is if I attach my sky mini box via Ethernet to my broadband router then hdmi from mini box to tv should I be able to watch sky this way ? The distance is 40 metres

As I understand it, if your broadband is with SKY then yes.

If not with SKY then yes but only  providing either your SKY Main is connected via Ethernet as well or you connect the Mini directly to your main box. (you may have to turn  off the wifi on it to make sure it connects via ethernet)

Thanks for the reply I am not with sky broadband as I live in Hull and it's not available I think I understand what you mean but not entirely sure. if I connect the sky mini box to the main sky box via Ethernet is that what you mean

Hi @Willowillo yes you can connect the mini direct to the Main box via ethernet

Alternatively both your Main & mini can be connected to your network via ethernet (via an umanaged switch or your router) - but note both must be connected via ethernet

@Willowilloyes so long as the long bit is ethernet and the short bit it HDMI.

It would be easier to connect my mini to my main box via Ethernet as my router is at the front of the house and my main box at the rear so to run off that would be lots easier that sounds the perfect solution 👍 Ethernet from main box Dow the garden connected to mini box then hdmi from mini box into the tv 👍
