@BBCiPlayer app (the beta version) then it's being shown in Ultra HD.Picture is very dark though even on vivid. Is it all down to the number of nits?
Yes most of the games on the BBC have been in UHD / HDR on the iplayer but unfortunately the app on SKY Q doesn't support it (yet)
Unfortunately some TVs, whilst, they support HLG HDR can be dark - there have been a few discussions on here - particularly in the earlier days of SKY supporting HDR (as they use HLG that the BBC does) . Needless to say some are disappointed & yes this where the peak brightness (as measured in nits) does show

Re: ENGGER game through the BBCiPlayer
My TV is not bright enough I get a better picture if I turn off HDR in the TV settings.

Although I haven't studied all the info it does seem that the HLG version of HDR seems to affect the image more and seems to make some screens that are just OK with the other forms that bit darker to often be barely watchable, which is a shame.
I think the manufacturers could be a little more open about the performance in these cases.
I think HDR makes a big difference - I often don't notice much difference between UHD/SDR and good HD but always notice the improvement with HDR content
Anyway I hope you can enjoy the game
(Fortunately my TV does not suffer)

And about 30 seconds behind the Sky BBC channel, I'd keep your windows shut & stay away from the internet during the game!

Re: ENGGER game through the BBCiPlayer
Been watching some of the games on my LG OLED through the app.
I find the HDR is better with Dynamic Tone Mapping on. It brightens the image lots. However you do get some blown out highlights at times, but does look better, especially in a bright room.
In a dark room I can get away with it off and having a more cinematic and accurate picture.
Watching on ITV now just looks rubbish!

Re: ENGGER game through the BBCiPlayer
Sony owners are forever complaining of dark HDR. Usually - and this is from endless experience of this on here - they've not bothered checking how to make HDR work on their TV. I'm not suggesting you're in this category, but just in case you might find yourself there, make sure you've read in your instructions how to activate HDR on your model. Usually by turning on Enhanced or similar.
(When you say you turned off HDR, I wonder if that was on fact an HDR+ mode that fakes HDR on non-HDR content - and the act of switching that off actually allowed proper HDR to come through, which is why it looked better? HDR+ type settings are a scourge of TV viewing.)

Re: ENGGER game through the BBCiPlayer
Hi @planearm . Tend to agree with @Rhonny on this one.
I have a Sony XE90 model and it is essential that you adjust the Advanced picture settings for HDR.
Basicly play something on sky that is in HDR then adjust the advance picture settings while it is being shown via the Action Menu. Generally increase Brightness, Contrast and Gamma and anything else you fancy. Also make sure the Light sensor is off. This will not alter the settings for non HDR displays, e.g. it only kicks in when watching HDR on that hdmi input. At least that's what happens on my Sony, e.g. it remembers
I did this months ago and have never had to touch the settings since and all is absolutely fine.
