It's that time again to negotiate with providers -
..Sky Q since introduction latest contract up and going up.
..VM Broadband for many years but needs a good price drop.
Before I consider losing Q which I like, Sky have offered Ultrafast at a good price, so should be able to negotiate with TV package, SO my question is can I continue to use my BT Whole Home Discs(white) with Ultrafast - they have served me well with no interference with or from Sky Q mesh and cover the house and gardens well.
Any advice welcome, too technical I may get lost though 🙂

"I'm still interested to know if the wifi can be turned off on the new sky equipment."
On router menu go to wifi tab
Go to 2.4ghz untick enable wireless access
On 5ghz do the same
Also available in advanced->lan ip setup disable "use router as dhcp server"
Sky Stream , Sky Superfast, SR203 router, Tp link td w9970 + Asus RT AX58U (backup), Xbox Series X, google home mini, LG 55 inch uhd tv, with Dolbyvision, samsung a5 2017 and samsung s21

Re: Considering Ultrafast - BT Whole Home Disc Question
Bt do 2 mesh systems . Premium wholehole wifi and wholehome wifi. The latter should be usuable with sky but will replace sky wifi not boost it. Therefore sky router wifi needs switched and yoxr primary bt mesh needs to be connected by ethernet to the sky hub. Premium wholehome wifi won't work

Re: Considering Ultrafast - BT Whole Home Disc Question
Thanks for the reply, yes it's the earlier whole home white discs x3 that I have presently replacing VM wifi from the modem - works a treat and has always been reliable.
Some comments around made it sound it was an issue with Ultrafast, good to know. I presume turning wifi off on the Sky equipment is possible then.

Re: Considering Ultrafast - BT Whole Home Disc Question
What speeds were you getting from VM.?
Which Ultrafast package are you looking 150Mbps or 500Mbps?
If its working impeccably at the higher vm speeds i see know reason it won't work on ultrafast speeds. One issue affecting the sky setup may be double nat (2 routers issuing dhcp on the lan) I don't know the specs on the bt discs to be able to advise whether there is an access point feature to eliminate double nat

Re: Considering Ultrafast - BT Whole Home Disc Question
I'm currently on VM 200 so would probably look at ultrafast 500 depending on deal (had an email for £37 beats current hands down),
With regard whole home apparently-
The Whole Home (white discs) work in access point (bridge) mode, so will be on the same subnet as the home hub, so there is no double NAT issue.
I'm still interested to know if the wifi can be turned off on the new sky equipment.

Re: Considering Ultrafast - BT Whole Home Disc Question
I have just had Sky Ultrafast installed and have 5 BT wholehome white disks. I can confirm that it works exactly the same as my old broadband (BT), and that you can turn wifi off on the Sky router.
