I’ve recently cancelled my sky package, however my wife likes the record and playback, so I give sky a ring and they managed to do the record and playback for £7 a month on the one box, however the sky customer services paired my card to my wife’s box and the other way around, I can’t seem to pair my card to my box and my wife’s to hers, I’ve followed all the steps however the option doesn’t come up.

Make sure your Sky viewing card is correctly inserted into the box.
Press Services on your Sky remote
Press 0, 0, 1, Select (setup should now be highlighted)
Scroll across to New Install
Press Select twice
If for any reason you can't do this either then your only option is to contact Sky so that they can do it for you, it would be advisable to have the card detai
s to hand should you call them.

What have you tried so far to fix your problem?
http://activatemychannels.sky.com, If you cannot perform thIs or it fails for some reason then Sky can pair your card remotely if you give them a call.

Been without sky tv signal for 6 days even with the new Q box delivered 24 hours ago. Have been trying to pair the card (whatever that means) for the last 24 hours without success. If I can't this up and running I will have no alternative but cancel my contract with sky and join Virgin, who will send out an engineer no charge.
I wait to hear from someone soon. No point trying to phone you and wait for an hour before being answered.

If you have Sky Q then you need to post in the Sky Q forum!
FYI, This forum is primarily customer-to-customer help, you will have to phone sky to see what can be done
Also threats to leave sky for Virgin Media are useless here as it does not affect us customers in any way

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@jax77 If, as you seem to indicate, that you have a Sky+HD box and have been sent a Sky Q Box through the post, then the Sky Q Box won't work until an engineer has changed the LNB on the dish.

Ive lost every paid for channel except sky spts prem. Cannot understand why this has happen. Ive got the to upgrade message, on every channel except 1. And are paying over £100. Yet the multibox is fine.
Ive tried the unplugging bit, and restart, and 001 select. I will now wait a little try again. Intersesting, ive just done a card swap with main that works fine so need new vieing card.

Yes i do have multi room, in 2 rooms, one card from upstairs works the main box, but the main box card has switched off for some reason, only getting sky spt prem! And ive tried pairing up the main box in bedroom 1, the card that is not the box, only 402 works. And after swapping round all 3 cards,
Its the main box card that for some strange reason has stopped and wont pair up, yet one channel works.

I think my only option is to phone sky. As im paying £100+ per month. Another interesting fearure, the main box is now displaying programme reminders and features. Ive just tried the card swap again, this time with card from bedroom 2, that now works fine, but the mainbox card only works on 402, other than the free stuff, none of the pay channels work. So its definitely the card.

The main box is fine with a bedroom card, but can,t understand whats happened there. I know we've had boxes and cards a long time. The main box was put in to replace sky+ in march 2010. But while i think about it i cannot remember the last time we had a new card, we used to get about every 18 months to 2 years or so. Typical, can,t get through, will wait until tommorow, im going to ask more about sky q, if a new card is out of the question.

There have been forum posts indicating that some advisers say there's no alternative but to upgrade, which is untrue. Don't be persuaded against your will!
