My Mum can't use any service that needs Wifi as her sky box can't connect to her WIFI.
She has a weirdly old looking version of the sky software that won't allow me to follow the recommended SKY steps to connect. Going to Network settings has no option to connect using password.
I have also followed the steps to force update the box (Turn off, hokd
back up etc)
Am I missing something?

@OldManSky you might have to get a wifi compatible box then connect using a password option would only be on wifi compatible boxes

Hi @OldManSky , Are you sure your mum has Sky Q ?, as all Sky Q boxes are WiFi enabled.

Thank you for your helpful responses I believe that must be the case.
Is my only option to buy a new Sky Box for her or is there an alternative way to connect to the internet with her older model?

Hi @OldManSky , If your mum has a Sky HD box then if I recall all of them have an ethernet port in the rear, this can be used to connect your box to the main Router via an ethernet cable (obviously the Router and Sky box would have to be near each other) which would then allow you to acess the Sky + Anytime on demand service , failing that a call to Sky may help as they could offer a WiFi enabled Sky HD box or the very least an offer to move to Sky Q, hope this helps,

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@OldManSky if the box has a WPS button on the front panel, it's wifi ready. If it doesn't you would need an On Demand connector, to make it wifi capable. Sky no longer provide them, but you can probably find a used connector on ebay etc.
The alternative would be to obtain a used wifi capable Sky box. There are plenty available cheaply, again, from ebay.
