Can I install Channel 4 on demand app on Sky Q box?

Is it possible to install Channel 4 on demand app on Sky Q box?

I am aware that programs are available on Catch-up TV option, but this requires an additional subscription

No Apps can be installed on Q.

There is some All 4 content on Q Catch up but it is not the Full App content. MIT just depends what content Ch 4 release for general catch up.

Q is not a device where you can add Apps but if you have a Smart TV then this can have Apps added.

Go into menu, settings, set up, preferences, along to "on demand default format" and change HD to SD. It should work.

I had same problem and spoke to a lovely Sky rep in Bluewater. He said that my settings must be on HD and I don't have the HD package!! Been trying for months to watch OD4 etc without paying!! Lol

I've set preferences to SD but still get the message that I need to upgrade to download Walter Presents on All 4 in HD. I try changing format from HD to SD, on the download site itself, but it doesn't work

Q is a poor platform for apps.  The 3rd party ones that are there are not great.  Best using something like a smart TV, Apple TV, Fire Stick etc.

Then that's why you can't access the All4 box sets content that Sky has. It's not the full All4 app but there's plenty there. But without Sky Signature, you can't access it - all you can get is Catch Up (shows aired in the last 30 days), and this will be in SD only if you don't have the HD pack. 

Sky Signature is the basic package now. Call up and renegotiate your package for another 18 months.

No, I don't have Signature either.  But I can find the program I want (eg. Bullets on All 4 which is free on on non Sky platforms). Sky appears to give the choice of SD or HD, but clicking on SD has no effect and I still can't access the program.  That said, sometimes I have been able to download a program that at first says I must upgrade. From what you say, the difference seems that be whether or not the program is part of a box set or not.

In any event, Sky should not be trying to charge for a program that Is transmitted for free.

All4 is advertiser-funded via the app on mobile, tablet, smart TV, laptop etc. It plays loads of unskippable ads which is how Channel 4 is able to offer content for free. 

However, Channel 4's box sets are subscription-funded on Sky. You need Sky Signature.

Use an Amazon Firestick, Roku stick or NowTV stick. These have all the on-demand features for no extra cost.

With commercials and  SD (mostly).

Howvever, the OP's TV might have the apps available if it's a smart TV.
