Buy Skyq box off Sky

Hi,

I was wondering if I could buy the sky q box off sky, my contract will be finishing and I won't be renewing due to it being expensive, however I would like to keep the box for free sat channels. I have old sky hd box but i sm skeptical this wont work and may not be compatible for future.

@babasi  You can't buy Sky Q boxes from Sky or anywhere else (legally). They are only ever supplied from Sky on a loan basis and never sold.

You can buy older Sky +/HD boxes from various retailers/auction sites, though you will probably have to change the dish LNB.

@babasi as @Doc5907 says the boxes are only loaned to you and must be returned to Sky so you cannot use Q boxes just as freesat boxes.

To use the old boxes as freesat boxes you would need to have the LNB replaced to a standard LNB or the nedwer 4K freesat boxes work with a wideband LNB

Sky Q has zero non-subscription functionality: even if you could acquire a box it would not work for Freesat.
