Bt broadband
My sky q main box is in my living room the bt broadband is on the other side of my living room. I connect my bt hub wirelessly to my sky q box. I get about 50 mps do you think this is quick enough for sky q? and can I leave the bt hub where it is?

Re: Bt broadband
Hi @clare198034 Leave the BT Hub where it is and 50 Mbps is more than enough.

Re: Bt broadband
@clare198034if it is Mbps then it is a good speed, however the speed does not matter that much, anything you download box sets, cinema etc will take longer on a slow connection but it will store in the main box and you can watch it normally. UHD will be painfully slow as will directly streamed apps like Amazon or Disney+ if the speed is very slow.

WiFi speed will always be a bit slower than the speed at the router (edited as it originally made no sense)

Re: Bt broadband
hi @clare198034 ,
With SKY Q Internet speed is only really relevant for the apps such as Netflix / Disney + / Amazon Prime as SKY Q downloads content over the internet rather than stream it.
Live channels come via the Satellite.
A quick google of Netflix recommended speed for UHD HDR material to stream is around 25Mps
My BT connection to the internet claims to be around 35Mps - I don't know the speed of the wifi connection of my equipement to the Hub but I have no problems streaming Amazon Prime UHD/HDR (I don't have netflix to advise or Disney +)

WiFi speed will always be a bit slower than WiFi speed.
Wanna give that another go? 😜

@Invisiblename Yes I realised it made no sense and was editing as you typed.

I draw your attention to my earlier post - SKY Q does not stream content from the internet - it downloads (or uses the Satellite feed for live channels) so even if it was slow it would just take a bit longer before you could watch.
That said, I have quoted some speeds which indicate more than good enough
One thing you might want to know is that SKY minis do get their signal via wifi (unless they are connected via ethernet) from the SKY Q mnain box but when you are with BT (like I am) it uses it's own network and not your BT wifi

Hi @clare198034 The 2.4 GHz connection has a maximum speed of about 45 Mbps so it wouldn't matter if you have 900 Mbps it would still be maximum speed using WiFi. Obviously connecting by Ethernet would be better and more reliable but you would only gain 5 Mbps. Anything above 25 Mbps is perfectly good for everything that Sky Q offers including streaming.
