Brand new Sky Q and mini freezes - fixed
Hi all, just thought I'd post a fix to my annoying start having moved from Virgin to Sky on Friday.
The engineer said because I have a mesh and the long distances between my two TV's, that hard wired was the best.
However he left with the wifi settings left on, so whilst it registered a hard wired connection immediately, I suspect it still tried to create it's own mesh, got confused and hung both boxes.
Having done a little research,
I hard rebooted both boxes by pulling the power out of the back, no other way when frozen.
When booted and up and working.
Pressed Home on the remote, navigated down arrow to settings but did not press any buttons to enter the menu.
On remote, pushed 001 and pressed Enter button in the middle of the arrow buttons.
This gives you a menu where you can turn off wifi, both bands.
After this, reboot the sky box because it still remembers the old network.
Worked a treat, no freezes. Just wished the engineer had done this.

I did this on both boxes in case it was not clear 🙂
