Box stuck on amber

My sky Q box will not switch on it is stuck on amber tried a software update went through everything made sure there was no dust around but it's still goes to amber & that's it have I missed something

Presumably you've tried turning it on from the front of the box rather than the remote control, in case your remote is at fault?

Hi @Js88  Reboot the main SKYQ box by removing the power cable for 30 sec then reconnect to reboot, when the box is fully rebooted and the light is amber press the SKY Logo button on top of the remote?

If your box stays on amber, try changing the remote batteries?

I am on my 4th Q Box in about 18months. They all have had this problem and each time I've worked through the suggestions and end up getting sent a new box. Fed up with it. Every 2 or 3 days the box needs reboot

I'm on the same issue but it happened because of a powercut. Just going to reboot the main one downstairs first. Already changed the batteries  that was the first thing

On my 3rd Q box and feeling the same.

Really gutted that these are not as good as previous devices.

Loosing the love for Sky big time.

Have you turned off the box by unplugging it & waiting 30 minutes, then connecting it again.

Not this time. Switched off of 2 minutes, uplugged and rebooted. 

Had a new box after Christmas.

Worked ok for 2 weeks now refused to turn on via the normal method.

Shouldn't have to restart/ turn off/ reset/manually update the box. Never did with both previous generations of sky over the last 15 years.

I work in BB and TV Tech support. 

Sometimes, when a customer has powered off and on a few times the remote will not work, so try pressing the standby button on the box. 

after this, reset the remote control by pressing and holding 7 and 9 until it flashes 4 times.

 

then re-pair the remote by pressing and holding 1 and 3 and following onscreen instructions. 

the amount of times where I receive calls from

customers who press the home button after restarting a box and do not try and press the standby button on the box. 

if after all that, your box is still stuck in standby attempt a recovery procedure. Unplug the blue/or orange cable from back of box, then press and hold standby button on front of the box, while this is held plug the power cable back in and white and wait until you get the message on screen that says step 1 of 2 software update. 

if after that, the box still doesn't turn on, then call us/sky as we will need to book you an engineer or replace the box.

 

the fact you've had to replace four boxes though in quick succession is not normal and I'm just wondering if you're being guided through the correct process. 

I rarely have to replace a sky box for a customer, 95% of the time it's solved by following the troubleshooting correctly. The stuck on standby issue is mostly always solved by just pressing the standby button on the box.
