If you got your new contract around April time, you would have likely got a few months of price protection, which meant that the April price rise was postponed for a couple of months.
Sky doesn't and cannot randomly increase prices as it would invalidate the T&Cs that customers have subscribed to. They implement one price increase per year (usually in April in the UK) and typically postpone this price increase for a couple of months for contracts agreed upon around April time.

Re: september increase
I am the same although I am sure I didn't get notified but my bill went from £105 in September when I signed a new 2 year contract to£121 the next month. We are both old age pensionners . My husband is 93 yrs old and can't get out so the TV is vital for him. It is a disgrace. They trap you.I was told it wouldn't increase.
