cold call offering 30%discount

caller offered 30%discount for 1 year on my sky subscription. asked for my email address (which unfortunately i gave him). then apparently sent me a 6 digit code for me to use for him to be able to apply the discount. i stopped at that point , he became rather agitated so i ended the call.

a scam????

@joK11 I've not heard of Sky operating in this way, that is, sending you a code to apply a discount. Most likely a scam, I'm afraid.

It's the password reset procedure.  100% scam.

 

By giving the caller the 6 digit code they will compromise the account.  (And then start ordering expensive mobiles etc.)

 

I suspect the mail says something about not giving the code to anyone...  It's quite a clever scam that many will fall for!

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

I have seen a few posts on here mentioning this pin reset option and as stated above it will be a scam in an attempt to get access to your account to

order devices as per this:
