cancel sky, they say they want sky dish returning as well!

hi all,

just had an interesting conversation with a sky rep. i called to cancel my sky tv as i no longer want it (only on essentials package for £10 a month)

when i finally got through to a human he initially tried normal spiel of trying to retain me, but i explained i no longer wanted sky as i was getting a freesat box.

so he said fine ill cancel but you need to return the sky q box, remote and the dish.......i asked him if he was sure about having to return the dish... he said yes.

ok i said when will you be sending someone out to take it down, remove dish cabling and make good any damage to property....apparentley one will be booked and will contact me!

he then said am i sure i want to cancel....i said yes and i would look forward to the engineers call 😀

 he then spends a few minutes apparentley cancelling the service but tells me due to technical difficulties he cant at moment but assures me it will be done and gives me a ref number.

so i guess ill wait and see!

You may wish to quote their own contract, "The Sky dish is not loaned to you and becomes your property to keep on installation".

Sounds like a tactic to try and stop cancellation...

Unfortunately, it sounds like you were speaking to a very badly informed and trained advisor. ( which unfortunately is quite common nowadays).

yeah im aware that the dish is mine to keep, just thought it was funny how they are using this tactic.

im more than happy for them to take the dish...not sure they will be happy to pay the bill for making good my property though 😁

Hi @kevmidlands   I personally would not believe a word that this advisor is telling you, especially with a blatant lie.. I would call again and get confirmation that it is cancelled. If you don't receive an email, clearly stating the end of contract, then it has not been actioned.

i thought the same so went on the text system and explained, this way i have a written confirmation of my cancellation.

lets see what happens from here
