Will I automatically receive compensation for a delayed installation?

Hi, My sky TV and broadband was due to go live on 23 April. AM appointment attended at 12.55. Told couldn't install as router would be more than 10 meters from the front door and told would have to rebook for openreach. Might have been useful if this had been discussed as a problem beforehand. Openreach arrived at 5.50pm on 6th May and didn't leave until 7.30pm. All up and running, which is great but I've had to keep my virgin media until now. Would like confirmation that the switch over from virgin will happen automatically and that I will be compensated for the 2 week delay. Also, I signed up with a refer a friend link but no record of this and I don't understand why. Would like it confirmed that the refer a friend process is actually now in place, so I receive the benefits associated with it. Thank you Ps, hate the virtual assistant. Sometimes you just want to interact with a real person instead of going round in circles with a bot!

We're just other customers here...

See here for the auto compensation: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/auto-compensation (This not apply to TV)

We can't confirm any friend referrals - others can tell you the timeframes for this.

One presumes Sky were using One Touch Switch so the VM line should be cancelled but I'd confirm with VM that they've received this notification correctly.

Unfortunately, you may well have to call Sky - say nothing when the bot interrogates you.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

@Valeeee

You might have to ask Sky this as you might qualify for a delayed activation compensation once your line has been activated with Sky or which the latest should be available here:

https://www.sky.com/ordertracking

For the refer a friend again once it has been activated within 45 days you should receive your reward but if you don't then there is an email address you can use to contact Sky about this that can be found via this FAQ at the bottom of this link:

https://www.sky.com/refer-a-friend

"What should I do if I have problems with My Reward":

Re Refer a Friend…

The person who referred you will receive their reward via email, 45 days after you have paid your first bill.

Re: Will I automatically receive compensation for a delayed installation?

Thank you all for responding. I queried here as trying to get hold of a human with sky is so difficult, when the bot can't understand your query. This was the response from the refer a friend team, when I queried it not showing as a referral on April 26. I just want to ensure my friend gets what's due. If their own team can't answer it's really difficult to know who can! "As for the refer a friend system, I understand your frustration. Unfortunately, our team only handles refer a friend issues, and I would advise you to raise a complaint using our complaint form. You can find the form https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-customer-complaints-code-of-practise" So rather than actioning the referral I now need to make a complaint! What a waste of time.

When calling you need to ignore the bot but as I said you are asked a bit early about the refer a friend as I would wait until your line has been activated then sue the email address I posted to ask Sky about it.
