Why?

My contract with Sky ended on the 25th of November. I have been with Sky over 24 years. I only had broadband left in my package and I changed to Plusnet on the 22nd of November. I pay a month in advance and my bill at the end of October covered to the end of November. I am told that I need to pay my next bill which would be for November to December. I will not be in contract or have use of Sky during December, so why do I have to pay. I have been on the phone over an hour today, and one contact said pay the bill and get a refund later?????? What's the point of doing that?

That is correct.

Sky's billing system produces a bill 14 days prior to payment date.  The bill is produced completely as normal (including the month in advance) even if this goes past your cessation date.

The following month's bill then produces a credit back to the day of cessation.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own

@Stan+Hooldsworth

It will do this but the automatic process to get the refund back to you can take weeks so if you post back here on or around what will have been your next billing date then we can arrange some help for you via here to get the refund issued to you quicker.
