Those annoying calls

How do I stop those annoying calls from sky. If I want an upgrade on anything I can arrange that. I have set my contact preferences to email only. Yet I still receive calls. Any help appreciated

Are those annoying calls really from Sky or the start of a scam attempt?

There is always the chance the calls are not from Sky but from a scammer who wants your account information so they can order devices via it.

Hi @Ddddania   Unfortunately these clever criminals spoof Sky's telephone number, so people believe that they are calling from Sky. Have a look here Account Takeover.

I have received calls yesterday and today from unknown (and different) mobile numbers.  I didnt answer until this morning when a bloke said he was from Sky with a special offer for me.   (Obviously I told him where to go in no uncertain terms.)

All of my contact preferences are set to "no voice calls" so is it safe to assume these are most likely scam calls or does Sky ignore these preferences for certain types of calls?

@Blacksheep Sky don't call from mobile numbers, so these are not genuine.

As noted, it is not Sky calling you.

If you call the number you'll find some random person will answer as their number has been spoofed...

Thanks for the responses.  I didn't know that Sky doesn't use mobile phone numbers, so that is very helpful.

I just had another call and when I looked it up on Who Called Me it said it was from Sky.   But it is a mobile number, so I have blocked it (along with the others).

They sometimes spoof Sky's genuine numbers too.

But a call from a mobile is definitely not Sky.

If Sky did call you then they would ask for the telelphone password (not your account password).  If you're not sure, then initially give the wrong password - if they accept it then you know they are scammers...

Well, as my preferences are set to "no voice calls" I shouldn't be receiving any calls from Sky in any case.   So I am going to assume any calls are from scammers.     If Sky genuinely wants to contact me they can email.   

That said, I  am not getting email notifications about replies from this thread even though I ticked the notification box.  So who knows what is going on.

Hi @Blacksheep   I would check the Options (top of thread) to make sure that you are Subscribed.
