The best approach post cancellation

Hi - I gave 30 days notice to cancel my TV as the price was going up by too much (I only have Signature and HD) and my service ended last night.

1) I've heard to actually let the contract end is the best way to get the best offers. Should I call them or will they contact me ? Incidentally, I had an outbound call from them a few days after I gave notice and a few messages asking me to call them if I wanted to stay. However, I was offered the same price every time so it seemed daft to invite me to call them to give me a price I'd already rejected for being too much.
2) I still have my Sky channels but in SD. Do these eventually go off too ?

Thank you

@JamieBee

Sky will not contact you once the minimum term on your contract runs out but it is likely you will see a price increase due to this so I would call them before you do start paying an increased price.

Re: The best approach post cancellation

I'm confused as I read lots of people on forums have said they'd got much better prices (cheap sky sports thrown in too for example) by letting the services end and then contacting Sky / waiting to be contacted a day or so later.
So you're saying Sky may quote me higher prices now if I contact them post my contract ending ?

No what I am saying @JamieBee is if you were to do nothing you will see a price increase so it is up to you to call Sky nearer the time.

@caesarome - maybe I didn't make my situation clear enough. To clarify - my TV sub ended yesterday so I now have no channels. They have made the same offer multiple times to stay and I said no and they included the April price increase. You've mentioned contacting Sky "nearer the time" but my sub has now ended.

Re: The best approach post cancellation

Sky will not contact you now that your sub has ended

The days of deep discounts are over and the deal you were offered while you were pending cancellation was likely the best you would have been given

Also if you are/were on Sky Q it's likely Sky were actually more than happy to let you go as they seem hesitant to offer much discount to existing Sky Q customers at all at this stage from what I gather

Stream and Glass are the future of Sky

@JamieBee  Now that your contract has ended you have two choices call and negotiate or wait to see if an offer arrives in the post

Personally I wouldn't deal with sky on the phone unless you have made the call to them yourself as there are a lot of scams with people pretending to phone from sky when they aren't

Re: The best approach post cancellation

I usually play this little dance with Sky every 18 months / 2 years and they better their offers just as I'm about to be switched off. This year, this hasn't happened though and this is the first time I've actually let the sub run out. The only reason I've done it as I've read so many people on various forums getting much cheaper Sky Sig / HD deals post service ending plus things like Sky Sports thrown in for free or for about £7-£8pm. I don't think I'm going to be able to go without all my Sky stuff for several days /weeks so I may have to suck it up and pay what they've offered - Sky Sig + HD for £29.50pm

You say you contacted Sky  and give them 31 days notice. But if  service has ended you should not have access to any Sky channels, you may still  be able to view channels like BBC 1 which are free to air but nothing else.  If you are still able to watch Sky channels even in sd it's possible you contact has not ended only the HD add part has ended. Check your billing to see it gives you a final bill or  still shows you  future bills for the next few months at least You can do that on the my Sky app or by login on the Sky web site, You can also check in "your products" if you still have signature.

Re: The best approach post cancellation

Hi - yes I gave 31 days notice and have now lost all my Sky channels, all apps and access to any of my recordings.
