Switching Fee Refund

Why do I feel that Sky have conned me out of the switching fund refund they promised when I transferred from EE.

It said that they would repsond withing 14 days. Yes I was dubious that they really would, but having waited now over a month why am i having to chase them.  They seem to be hoping I will forget about it or give up or time out on the 90 days time limit. Companies like Sky really are treating us like mugs and cash machines.

Hi @Ian--   So to be clear, you sent them a copy of your final bill which clearly itemised the early termination fee(s)?

@Ian-- most likely the documentation you sent them wasn't adequate - in particular your final bill from your old provider must separately specify early termination charges (or similar wording)..

Re: Switching Fee Refund

Thanks Mark for the advice.

I sent a copy of my direct debit mandate that said final amount paid on ....

So in their opinion they can just ignore it and say nothing till i go away. I despiar with companies like sky. And they wonder why people go for dodgy fire sticks instead.

Do i need to send again do you think or are they likely to just keep ignoring?

Thanks again.

Re: Switching Fee Refund

Hi,

I sent them a copy of my direct debit page from my on line baking which said amaount of final payment and the date to EE>

I'm sure in a court of law this would be adequate.

I was trying not to do a screen shot of by bank account statement as there was sensitive information on it.

Sky seem to be so pedantic - it was only for £30 i am sure they just ignore it and hope you go away.

I have been with them for around 30 years and they have made a mint off me during that time.

They just choose to ignore and rinse me of cash sadly.

Thanks for your help.

@Ian--

You must provide a copy of the bill from your previous supplier where you have been charged an early termination fee and a copy of a statement showing that you have paid it and send these to Sky via this email address - switching credit @sky.uk (all one word without the gap) - so is this what you did ?

Hi @Ian--

The documents required are laid out in https://www.sky.com/help/articles/switching-credit-offer

From what you are telling us, did you include "A copy of the final bill from your old provider showing the charges". Sky are only interested in the early termination charge itemised on the bill and that you have paid it.

Re: Switching Fee Refund

The final piayment date and paid to EE was shown on the direct debit page from my on line banking which is what i sent to them. So all tyhe correct info is there they are just choosing to be pedantic.

I will send all of the documentation again along with a copy of the statement though not sure how i blank out other sensitive info.

I guess this is how sensitive info gets stolen.

Kind regards

Ian

You must send them a copy of the bill from EE where you were charged a early termination fee so did you also include this ?

@Ian-- it's your early termination charges that Sky will reimburse you for, not your total bill. A bank statement won't provide that level of detail. It needs to ne a bill from your previois prpvoder where the ETCs are clearly detailed.

Re: Switching Fee Refund

Thanks everyone for helping.

I have just resubmitted for a second time all of the relevant details.

I have enclosed the final bill from EE

My bank account statement showing the payment

My letter from EE telling my of the likely charges

my sky accouint number

my name and address

and asked them why they just ignored my previous request even if they though some details might be missing.

previously i showed them my list of direct debits showing the final one made to EE. This time i have shown them my band account statement with transaction number for the EE payment.

Hopefully they will respond in some way this time. Otherwise i feel like giving up - but then that is what they want isn't it?

Thanks everyone again.

@Ian-- hopefully you'll be ok - providing your final bill states an itemised charge for early termination fees. If it just shows a total, it's unlikely to be successful.
