Sneaky Contract Renewal / Cold Call / Netflix

Now here's an interesting thing.

To come clean, I do dread dealing with this company. I truely believe that "treating customers fairly" is not in their mantra, but I've been with Sky for years (VIP job for what it's worth) etc., so go figure.

Anyway, the 24 month contract renewal was up last month.

During the negotiations, the representative kept asking about Netflix and if I wanted 4 screen or 2 screens. I didn't appreciate that Sky have changed the Netflix packages and it is utterly confusing when you're on the call. I said I wanted no adverts. Eventually we agreed on a 2 year price.

I didn't think anything of this until I got a cold call yesterday. I was offered Sky Sports for 2 years and that it would actually take down my monthly payment. Of course I said yes. He then asked me the same questions about 4 screen and 2 screen Netflix.  Why would he ask me this when all he was offering was to add on Sky sports? I said stupidly that I currently have 2 screens and that was all. So, yes he did manage to get me a lower monthly price but my Netflix was downgraded to standard.

It sounds like a shoddy practice and the whole thing smells.

So, now I have to go through the complexity of reversing out yesterday's call and reinstating my previously negotiated contract. I suspect that it will reset my 2 years as it will be deemed a new contract.

Netflix changed the tiers they offer partners such as Sky at the same time as they introduced advertising: partners don't get a choice.

Presumably 'Standard with Adverts' rather than 'Standard'.

I'd suspect a misguided attempt to cut your monthly cost.
