Sky essentials

As now reliant on my pension, and been with Sky for 22 years, I have asked to downgrade my account to Sky essentials on a 31 day rolling contract at the advertised price of £18.00 per month, when my contract ends in june, only to be told that price is only available for new customers, I do understand Sky need to attract new customers yet to have a new customer get the same package at a cheaper deal is not good, when Sky have had my loyalty for 22 years, I told the advisor that I would then be looking to cancel, who said they would book a call 31 days prior to my contract end date to put the cancelation in place. Time to go.

Better discounts are offered to new customers as an incentive for them to join.

If you choose to jump ship and go with another provider then in 18/24 months you'll be in the same position with that provider and be able to return to Sky as a new customer.

Most, if not all providers operate in a similar way.

Agree, I won't hold my breath, I'll  call them 31 days prior.
