Sky User Name

How do I change my main Sky Account(not community account, I've already changed that one) user name -  mine is an old email address(sky.com one) which has been compremised?

If someone could help please? I am also trying to delete the old email address(sky.com one) completely and delete the data associated with it. The spam that keeps getting sent will not stop, it's relentless and I have read the only way of doing so is to stop using the email. I have moved off and notified all sources of my new new address, but of course, the spam keeps coming, so it will never lie dormant and therefore never get closed. It is a problem, don't suppose this has happened before to anyone?

@RLG04RD  Have you tried logging into your Sky ID here https://www.sky.com/mydetails

Your SKy/Yahoo email account can't be deleted however simpy don't log in for 12 months or more and it should be deleted due to non activity https://www.sky.com/help/sky-yahoo-mail/inactive-sky-yahoo-acc/articles/inactive-yahoo-mail-accounts

There is no option to change your main username log on, the manage account section is not populated, Sky ID section, is name, email address(which has to be different, you cannot use the sky.com one) and the Data section is unfortunately not relevant.

Inactive Sky email addresses/accounts are deleted automatically......this is the issue, the spam keeps it active......don't know how to get around it?

I wouls appreciate any guideance please?

@RLG04RD  No, you just don't log in to your email account, that is what inactivity means.

https://www.sky.com/mydetails/account-info You just change your email address not your user name.  Do you see that option?

@RLG04RD you can change the email address Sky uses for contact in the way described my @GD1 , but I don't think you can change your Sky ID username.

With regard to your Sky Yahoo Mail account you can let it become inactive by not logging in via sky.com and it will eventually be deleted automatically.. Spam won't affect deletion.

Sky do have a process for manually deleting email accounts, but the challenge will be finding an adviser who knows how to do it.

Yes, I have already changed the email address associated with my sky account. It was the deletion of the old Sky.com email account that is the issue and the ID username on my account.

It is good to hear that Spam mail does not affect the activity on the account, however, the "spammers" alter their email addresses so that they bypass any rules etc that I may have running and appear in the mail box. I fear it will never get deleted?? Some of the emails are really cruel from a dear friend who has recently passed and they are very hurtful and constant reminders.

I have changed my email address associated with my Sky account, so that is okay, I'm just desperate to get this email account deleted permenantly and my overall Sky ID log on changed to as this is a constant reminder too?

Okay, I understand it is the logging on that is the trigger, thank you for clearing that up, much appreciated. I don't actually have the account on my desktop Outlook anymore, but have it on my mobile phone to monitor, if I had missed notifying a genuine contact. I will delete it from there today as it will obviously scupper the advise that you have given.

The SkyUser ID log on is the only thing that remains then?

It is me, I just wanted anything associated with that account - so data, activity etc to be gone, so I had a completely clean break. This spamming has been really hurtful and never ending for over 12 months and the root cause is that address. So, I wanted it and anything associated with it to be gone, changed whatever. If that is not possible, then that is a shame, although any other account where it has been part of my signing on process, I have been able to change, so it seems quite strange that I cannot do so.

@RLG04RD you can't change it yourself. We can only suggest you contact Sky, explain the circumstances to them and see what they can do. It doubt it would be straightforward, unfortunately.

Good Morning All, 

Thanks to everyone who has replied and offered advice to me, it is much appreciated. I have set up a diary reminder in 13 months time to check to see if the account has been deleted, I'm not sure if prior notice is offered or not and unfortunately, I will have to stay with the log on name. There always seems so much "red tape" when you try to contact Sky direct, so, I will leave it be for now..
