Scam or real

Hi I have had an email which says it is from sky telling me I am owed money, £53.52. There is a phone number to ring . I have rung it and they ask me for my sky account number. Is this genuine, or a scam?

@Stswithin

You have probably been sent this if you have left Sky and you removed your payment details so the refund can not be issued directly back via it so a cheque will be sent out so if you have not moved since you left Sky then call the number given.

@Stswithin almost certainly genuine. Calling you 'customer' rather than addressing you by name or asking you to click on a link would be red flags. We know there are emails genuinely from Sky inviting customers to claim a refund.

@Stswithin if a refund is due, would it not show on the balance of  your account which you can access online?

Almost  certainly  a scram as if you  have anything  like that they will  put it as a credit  on the account  i e tv, broadband,  or mobile,  and put it towards  the  next bill, and also  sky do put  your  name on any emails  they send to you like if you  have managed  to get discounts on your  bills as i have in the past
