Returning sky router
Hi,
I terminated my Sky broadband before it expired in early September. I have not had any notification or request to return the router/equipment, does it normally take a while, or are they now deemed disposable? I don't want to get slammed with charges for not returning it. Thanks
NB

Re: Returning sky router
@Sedbusk
If you’ve successfully cancelled Sky should send out returns packaging to the address where the account was active, near the end of any cancellation period, which is 14 days for broadband and 31 days for Sky Q/Stream TV, for any loaned equipment they are expecting back. If you cancel both Broadband and TV the smaller BB packaging should arrive first.
Any return packaging should show on your account
https://www.sky.com/ordertracking
If the arrival of packaging is delayed, it’s damaged on arrival or doesn’t arrive at all it’s the customers responsibility to use their own packaging to return it. You can use any packaging as long as it’s secure and you may want to put a note inside with your account number and a list of equipment that is included. This link explains about how to receive an email with your return labels through Royal Mail.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/return-tv-broadband
It’s important that you keep your proof of posting safe and indefinitely and if you use Royal Mail’s collect from home service, keep a record of the tracking number.

Re: Returning sky router
Thanks Daniel. Seems the return packaging has not gone out yet which is a bit surprising but I guess I'll just wait for now.

Re: Returning sky router
Sky usually sends packaging out near the end of the cancellation notice period of 14 days for Broadband/Talk so I would have thought you should have received it by now so has you haven't you can use whatever boxes you have or can get as this link will help you to print the return label and return it via Royal Mail:
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/return-tv-broadband
Add a note inside with your account number and a list of equipment you have included.
Make sure you get and keep proof of posting when sending this off.

Re: Returning sky router
Hi there, I talked to Sky and was given an address to send the router using my own packaging (Unipart Technology Logistics Unit 12 Hamilton Way, Bermuda Way, Nuneation and with a postcode that Sky will apparently not permit me to type in this message (!!) but which I recognize as being a postcode in the Nuneation area). He also told me to generate a royal mail label that the Post Office would use to ship it. I generated the label (using Sky as the retailer), took it to the Post Office and when I look it has a different address and a very weird postcode: Unipart Logistics, National Distribution Center, NDC, again Sky doesnt permit me to type the postcode so I will state it as ex ex four zero four ewe ewe (bizarre, right?). The guy in the post office tells me he doesn't know which address might be correct, so I call Sky and the rep wasn't very helpful, told me to go home and gerenate a new label which seems kinda pointless. I'm trying my best here to return Sky's equipment but am getting no support from Sky in terms of 1) supplying me with returns packaging (nor label) 2) No clarity on where to ship it.
It's tempting to throw it in re-cycling but then I'm sure Sky would be quick to penalize me for not returning it.

Re: Returning sky router
Hi @Sedbusk I don't understand why you need an address as the Royal Mail label generated has it on already! If the label generation asks for an address, that is your address as the sender. https://www.sky.com/help/articles/return-tv-broadband

Re: Returning sky router
The enormous Unipart warehouse is at that address in Nuneaton.

Re: Returning sky router
Thanks. I get the part about me submitting my own address, what concerns me is that somebody in Sky told me to send it to one postcode and a royal-mail generated label tells me to send it to another (and very odd) postcode, albeit both with the same Unipart company name. Why would Sky themselves tell me something wrong and different to what royal mail is telling me is the correct Sky address? Do I just go with the Post Office version and assume that Sky gave me the wrong info?

Re: Returning sky router
Just saw your message Daniel, thx. You seem to imply that I should send to the Nuneaton address given to me by Sky, yet the royal mail doesnt generate such an address so the PO says I would have to pay myself to send it to that one.

Re: Returning sky router
Hi @Sedbusk Use the 'official' Royal Mail label.

Re: Returning sky router
I'm sure this address/postcode issue has been discussed before on a closed forum the SuperUsers have access to. I'm still trying to find it. All I was confirming was that is where the Unipart warehouse is.

Re: Returning sky router
My understanding is it's all one building. The XX postcode is a non geographical Royal Mail postcode for returns. If you Google it it includes the Unipart deport in Nuneaton (but referred to as Coventry) and is used by multiple companies for returning items.
