I had no outstanding balance but my services were suspended today but I don't have a bill till 2nd November but had to pay today to resume services even though I have a direct debit set up

Sky doesn't suspended services unless a bill hasn't been paid so does it show that your 2nd October bill was paid on time via your Sky account:

It was paid on 23rd October
