I just set up a new Sky TV & Broadband order today and 5 hours later I received an email from sky at notifications.contact.sky saying that there is an issue with my order and Sky requires more information.
When I phoned up they couldn't find my order or account and wanted my FULL password, mother's maiden name, address and account number - so I hung up.

Tne email you received was from Sky and the password they asked you for is not your online one but a seperate telephone one so there is no scam at play here unless you found a suspect phone number on the internet and wasn't talking to Sky,

Re: Potential scam email from Sky broadband
ok thanks caesarome, I just found it a bit odd as when setting up the order they got me to confirm my telephone password by asking for only 2 letters however when I just phoned up now they asked for the full password, DOB, address & mother's maiden name which was a massive red flag for me.
I will phone them back up if this is indeed legitimate, I will update this post with the outcome.

Re: Potential scam email from Sky broadband
'dot sky' is a domain owned by Sky International AG on behalf of Sky Group (a division of the Comcast Corporation) and only used by Sky-related entities. It's not available for wider applications and so is an unlikely point of origin for scams.
