Poor service

After switching from EE to SKY I have been nothing short of very disappointed with both the broadband and TV services. Working from home, my Teams calls keep freezing, my internet fails to load. TV wise programmes fail to load or keep freezing. I have 3x extender pods and live in a bungalow so signal shouldn't be an issue, and one of the pucks is wired to the router yet still has problems. Apart from the price by getting a good deal I wish I'd never swapped and if I could I'd cancel the lot, but only been in contract since beginning of May. Anyone got any suggestions on why my service is so poor?

Are the service equivalent to the service is speed that you had with EE, as the broaband coming in to you properly should be the same only your provider  and hub has changed the equipment providing  the service should have remained the same as that is supplied by open reach down the same cable that your ee service was supplied. The only difference is you Sky broadband hub by the sound of it dose not give such a stong WiFi signal as your EE one. If you have Sky stream unfortunately that work slightly different to the way your ee tv box worked. Unlike the ee box the sky steam dose store any data in the box it just pass it direct from the the stream portal so there is no spare capicity to cope with slow data ect. Therefore unlike your ee box the sky steam dose requires a lot high speed boradband to give a good reliable picture without continual buffering and freezing that you are experiencing,

Re: Poor service

Speed and everything is the same, I didn't need extender pods with the EE router either. I begrudge having to pay for a faster speed when I had no issues before.

I have  seen and experienced the situation in cases in the past  the EE and BT ( which are both same company) seem to have superior hubs compared to other competitors that offer a service at cheaper price. They seem to give give a stonger WiFi signal nd ther internal design  of antenna s will give stover over the whole many properties without the of extenders and able to cope a lot better when lots of devices are connected to them. I remember a simlar situation with my daughters broadband they initially had BT and the broadband worke with no problem even though there was lot of devices connected by WiFi . However then decided to to change in time to various other providers because they appeared to offer a similar service at much reduced cost. Having done that they  had no end of problems with  the broadband band dropping out of various devices  when other devices were switched on also buffering and freezing pictures just like you described. I have a BT broadband and  pay £83 a month which I know is quite a high price but for that I get a good service with no drop outs , no extenders just the hub which provides good quality  broadban thought my maisonette, a engineer that visits  once a year to check that my service is running tip top and als a facility that if my broadband goes down, the hub swiches to EE 4g mobile service so I do not get any break in service. Yes I could switch to cheaper provider but I am reluctant to as what I got work fine and don't what to run the risk of having problems that you describe. The sky stream problems you describe is known problem with that service and dose need a very good internet speed an conection., any think sort of full fiber and you likely to have problems.

I understand your begruding having to pay more for a faster speed, but was the reason you left EE for Sky was because of having to pay EE more per month?

All ISP supplied equipment is not equal, as you are now discovering. I suggest spending money on. your own network/mesh equipment which you can use with any ISP in one way or another. You can pay as little as £69 but I'd suggest a better system that can future proof you for some years.

4 years ago, I joined an ISP that did not supply any network equipment. WiFi around the home was only as good as the equipment I purchased. I spent £600 on 3 x Asus XT9s which are fast, reliable and I'm now using them with another ISP.

Best of luck

Re: Poor service

I should add to my post I have now tv  which is what you had with EE for your Sky channels. I would not have Sky stream as I know with my present broadband speed would probably give me the same results as you are getting  for the reasons I explained in my earlier post. Unfortunately I could not have a faster broadband speed even if I wanted as full fiber is not available at my location yet, so the maximum I can have is part fibre.
If you can't resolve your Sky stream problems and you are in minium term for the next two years Sky might allow to change  to Sky Q which is a satellite tv service and the signal delivered from dish on the outside of property. This would give no freezing or buffering pictures, however that service is more expensive than Sky stream specially if you have new customer discounts with steam.
