Payment through zilch

Just looked up my zilch account and apparently it says I can pay my sky bill through them, if it's true then when I've got my credit up on the account I'll be using it to pay what I owe.

You're only telling other customers.

Sky require you to pay by direct debit, or automated monthly credt or debit card. They don't allow manual payments.

Wrong.     Sky do allow you to make manual payments via the app. You do not have to have a long standing direct debit with them at all.     There options permit you to make manual payments to pay your bills.    I know this because I have used it myself.

The T's and C's state you should have a direct debit or continuous card payment method set up. You therefore never need to make a manual payment. Paying manually won't stop Sky trying to to take the planned payment. Any manual payment is likely to just go on your Sky account as a credit so is pointless.

I would suggest NOT making any manual payments unless requested to by Sky.

Card payments are only acceptable via Visa or Mastercard.

In addition to this, the T&Cs also state that Sky can ( and in some circumstances will use any card payment methods they have on record for your account to automatically charge them. Also worth noting that if services get restricted for late/non-payment, then one of the prerequisites to services being restored is setting up a direct debit or card details on the account.

We have seen people on this forum mention exactly this happening.

In reality the manual pay option is there for situations where the automated payment method has failed for any reason.

Re: Payment through zilch

Some users can't afford to have a continuous direct debit set up because of bank charges or debt accumulated they can't cover the costs.     If you read the original post he's obviously in some sort of financial difficulty so you haven't got to get smart and obnoxious with people to prove you are right I was just confirming that yes you CAN make a manual payment with sky.     Clearly you live in a bubble without any arrears and have such a fabulous lifestyle eh.   Aren't you a lucky one.

Yes, manual payments can be made but they don't always work out the way one wants.  Indeed, there are many, many posts on this forum with people making such payments only to find it's a credit against the following month's bill and then the full amount is attempted to be collected.

As noted, the correct way is to use automated collections with no manual payments.  But YMMV.

Forum history indicates that Sky will tolerate manual payments, albeit in breach of contract, until a payment is late or missed.

At that point your services are likely to be restricted and won't be reinstated until a direct debit or monthly card payment is put in place.

Then perhaps these people shouldn't enter into a legally binding contract with companies that require regular payments by direct debit!

If the OP has a debt payable to Sky, it is likely their service has already been restricted. Sky may well accept a manual payment to clear the debt, but will not reinstate service until a direct debit or continuous card payment is in place.

Re: Payment through zilch

Have I said any of you are wrong? No I haven't.     But I've been in his situation.    I pay my sky bills manually every month with no issue because of charges at my bank and never had a problem so the fact that I'm trying to help somebody because I'm in that financial stance myself doesn't give any of you the right to jump down my throat and tell me I'm wrong when I'm living proof you can pay manually.
