Out of Contract...

I'm currently paying over £100 with Sky for my Sky Q, I have all the packages except the kids channels.

I've been out of contract for over 6 month's now, whilst I make my mind up whether to jump ship or not.  One thing is for sure, I certainly don't need the level of package I currently have .

It is nice knowing that I can walk away anytime, as I really do not want to sign up for 12 or 18 months or whatever it is.

Have sky got any good offers on that's worth me sitting on the phone for ages and possibly getting a hard sell ?

Re: Out of Contract...

Had a chat with Sky today.  I got a VERY good deal for being a 23 year Sky Veteran.

They wouldn't budge on the 18 month new contract, but I can live with that.

Cheers.

Re: Out of Contract...

@152bobby

If you're out of contract then follow the links on the Sky website for cancelling your TV package. You'll end up on a page which quite often offers you the option to start a text chat with the retentions department. They have access to the best offers for those who decide to re-contract. £100+ is way too much to be paying for a TV service IMHO. I know several people who pay a little over half that for the full package, including sports, cinema & multiscreen.

You'll be hard pressed to get anything less than a 12 or 18 month contract on Sky Q though. The other option is to switch to Sky Stream which does offer 31 day contracts, but is a very different system relying entirely on fast and stable broadband to function.

Re: Out of Contract...

It's that time again and I'm out of contract.  I currently pay £89.50 for just about everything, minus Kids and full sports, but I do have F1.

Spent an hour with the Sky Chat advisor yesterday and they came back with a "special deal" for me...wait for it....£5 discount 😳.

We ran out of time as it was hitting 6pm and they close and for some reason, the sky chat is not online today, as I agreed to continue the discussion today !!

So I am out of contract and can walk away pretty easily any time I want.

However, I do like the Sky interface, menu, recordings, series links etc, but I am just paying for something I don't really use.  I use Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon more than I do the Sky channels (Sky Movies is a joke).  So I am seriously thinking about leaving Sky and just use Digital TV along with Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon.

....or just downgrade to Sky Signature, with HD/UHD and Multiroom and that's what I'm going to get a price for when Sky Chat is back on line.  What I REALLY would prefer, is that on a rolling contract and not sign up for 18 months or whatever.

Any tips or advice appreciated.

Cheers

@152bobby

Minimum term discounts are now 24 months not 18. Being on a rolling contract (where you're able to just give 31 days notice) means you'll be paying the full standard undiscounted price.

Re: Out of Contract...

Yes, I know the consequences of being out of contract (financially), but to just offer me £5 off to sign up for another 24 months is a joke, especially when the beginning of the chat was to downgrade with substantial savings and they even tried to tantalise me with a new mobile blah blah blah 🤣

Just goes to show that being a 25 Year Sky Veteran doesn't really carry much weight.

Just to be clear, you're "not out of contract", your discounted period has ended.  To end your contract you have to give Sky 31 days notice, otherwise you're "still in contract"

Re: Out of Contract...

Yes it states in MySky that my contract has ended and I am aware about the notice that I have to give 👌

You will need to contact Sky and see what they can do for you. As Sky makes its contact information difficult to get, you can get it here instead:
https://viewersvault.com/Contact_information_for_Sky_(United_Kingdom_and_Ireland)

Services I use on Sky:
  • Sky Q in Ireland:
  • ︎Sky Signature, Sky Cinema, Sky HD, Paramount+, Discovery+ (Standard)
  • Sky Ultrafast Max (Fibre Internet)
  • Sky Talk (VoIP)
  • Sky Mobile
  • Disney+

Please treat everyone with respect. 🙂

@152bobby

Poor wording I'm afraid. Your contract hasn't ended and doesn't end until you cancel your subscription through the correct method. It's only discounts that have ended.

Re: Out of Contract...

So...been chatting to Sky advisor via text because Live Chat seems to have disappeared.

I have now had a price for Sky Essentials+ with multiscreen for £29 a month on a rolling contract and can go back any time and upgrade,  if I realise, I have nothing to watch 🤣.

I have asked can I have Sky Signature instead of the Sky Essentials+, because I think that's a bit better choice.  Or even Sky Ultimate ?

They have gone for a Early lunch, so will continue the chat after.

Signature is significantly more expensive than essentials.  Signature retails at £40.50pm but includes Sky channels such as Atlantic.
