Newsletter Opt Out link does not work

Sky make it impossible to unsubscribe from their newsletters, which I'm sure the ICO would be interested to know.

When clicking the link in the email footer it takes you to a landing page to unsubscribe. Once you confirm you want to, you are greeted by an error message and they keep on spamming you:

ODBC error: [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0][SQL Server]Failed to update database "AdobeCampaign" because the database is read-only. SQLState: 25000 XSV-XXXXXX Unable to save document of type 'History of service subscription (nms:subHisto)'. SOP-XXXXXX Error while executing the method 'Write' of service 'xtk:persist

Please contact your Sky administrator.

If you go to the My Details page [advised as an alternative route to unsubscribe] then it advises the following to unsubscribe from newsletters:

If you'd like to stop receiving our email newsletters, please use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the emails.

I have my preferences in the My Details section set with EMAIL as OFF but they just keep on spamming away.

Tried to talk to them on chat but the bot is useless and won't connect me to a human. I'll make a complaint but wondered if anyone had found a way to actually unsubscribe from the newsletter?

Re: Newsletter Opt Out link does not work

I have been having the same problem about this disturbing Sky Newsletter Emails too for months now.  Or how can it be worthwhile or even legal if any Sales Related thing is being forced on a Customer?  Even emailing you daily itself about anything has rendered the action a spam or fraussters in action.  In view of this, Sky should be ashamed of themselves by engaging in such an unlawful forced sales act and at the same time making it imposible for Customers to even unsubscribe from it.

I do not want those silly emails about the VIP Reward sent to me everyday again.  Because such action can only be a spam, their emails origin is not being monitored or a lack proper records being kept.  For the last time, this needs to be resolved by the Sky before they are being legally sued for it.  Which could later cost them reputation damage.

By the way, my public complaint here is only for the Sky to expose what they are doing.  It is not directed to anyone in particular here in the forum.  So if you don't have a polite suggestion or a helpful resolution to provide, please do not contribute to it.
