New offers

Hi, I have just recieved a new offer from SKY. I have been with sky for 28 years. I am presently on SKY Q and do not have a fibre connection in my home. New offer was to remend me that I am on monthly contract, which i have been on for years. My present payment is £45.50 per month for TV only. One of the old heritage packages. VARIETY.  I was offered a new 2 year contract with the same channels plus sky kids and the price would be £45.50 per month. At first i thought it was April fools day. Tie up to a 2 year deal for same package at same price. Someone is having a laugh. Now looking around for cheaper suppliers. I am of the view that £45.50 per month just for TV is excessive, and more price increses of 6.2% to come in April 2026. I am a loyal customer, but there comes a tipping point where sorry enough is enough.

The Variety pack was replaced by Signature years ago and Sky will want customers off these old packages.

£45 for just TV is not excessive imo but if your discounted minimum term has ended or its ending soon the best new discounts are still normally acquired by contacting Sky and negotiating or potentially amending your package which will require a new 24 month minimum term contract.

Significant discounts are harder to come by these days so if you’re offered something acceptable be prepared to agree to it there and then because if you decide to think about it the offer is unlikely to be available when you call back. Also remember you’re not a new customer so don’t expect anything close to a new customer deal.

See this link…
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/change-your-package-2-t2#downgrade

If you decide it’s no longer value for money and you’re thinking of changing providers remember that in 18/24 months time you'll be in the same position with that company at which point you'll be able to return to Sky and benefit from the new customer discounts available at that particular time.

Re: New offers

So it is a take it or leave it. I will leave it thanks. And the package i am on now is not a discounted package, Never had a discount from SKY in all of my time with them. I have been on monthly for years. Allows me to go with anyone. My question was on being offered a new package but having to sign up to a 2 year deal for the same price with nothing extra. As for you think the price i pay is not excessive, it is to me and will be increasing by 6.2% in April of this year. I have no add ons.

It's your choice.  As noted, if you don't believe it's good value then why keep paying?

That's where we differ. I've never not had a discount. It's entirely your choice but paying as you do means you're always paying the full price.

Your choices are to pay full price (if you want to), negotiate a discounted term (24 months) or leave.

There is no other option.

Bear in mind you have to return all Q hardware if you cancel.  You could look at purchasing a FreeSat 4K box to use the existing LNB.

Re: New offers

Hi again

As previously stated in my OP my question was why offer me a new seal signing up for two years at exactly the same price. With no extras. Sky kids I can get free on my monthly contract. Why make out they are giving it to me as an extra to helpake my mind up to signing a new contract. And my answer to keyboard warrior was not aimed at you, but at the other superuser. And you are correct in thinking, I have never had any discounts from sky over 20 odd years with them.

I see nothing in any post that can be considered impolite. You've presumably posted on here for advice so of course opinions factor into replies. We base our responses on our own experiences with Sky and the knowledge we've picked up through the Community over the years.

Yes, they do that.  Primarily because you generally get better discounts for having more than the base subscription.

Of course, contracting without any discounts would be mad.

Give notice to leave, this often extracts better offers.  I've always given notice to leave and then negotiated.  But be prepared to leave.

Realistically Q is in its last few years as a platform: offer pricing is now for Glass and Stream which are in the process of replacing Q.

Sky Glass 55" (on ethernet) & two Stream Pucks (one ethernet / one WiFi)
