New deal

So my contract is up, I have the basic package, slow internet, no cinema, no sports and no Netflix and I now pay 83 quid a month for this.

from BT or Virgin I can have faster internet, better tv package, Sky Cinema HD, Sky Sports HD and Netflix HD for 80 quid a month.

Why do I have to call sky to sort this ? Why can't they just offer me the same deal  when my contract expires ?  I'm a 13 year platinum vip user but I actually feel like a tin can user to be honest......  seems like they just want to haggle with you to obtain as much money as they can, everyone I know seems to pay less and get far more than I get for my money.

I suppose I need to ring them and do the life of Brian haggling saga yet again 🤦‍♂️

If you want to see if Sky will match that price you have been quoted from elsewhere then you will need to call. If they do match it then it will come with a 24 month contract and you will need to make up your mind there and then as the same offer might not be available if you call back later.

Re: New deal

I fully understand the process, I don't like having to call them and create a new deal, as per my first post, you must haggle......

The fact I have to call them, I first have waste my time to do the research into what available elsewhere which instantly makes me think they are ripping me off in the first place. Then waste my time on the phone to them.....   yeah yeah I'm wasting time here.....  I know but I'm not having to speak to someone who can barely understand my thick accent.........

As a loyal sky customer would it not make sense for them to at least offer you a new contract deal via email right before your current one ends, to at the very least stop you from visiting a competitors website ?

No because as far as sky are concerned if customers don't call and negotiate they see it as the customer being happy to pay further list price which means more money , hence the onus being on the customer to be proactive

Re: New deal

So Sky assume I as a customer am happy to pay more way more than what could be paying elsewhere for far more ?

They clearly do not understand their customer base then......

From their own statistical analysis, I imagine Sky know way more than you and I do about their customer base!

You are A Sky customer. Sky will know exactly what proportion of their customers actually pay attention to minimum term discounts expiring and do something about it before reverting to full list price.
