Netflix basic - Opt out of automatic standard plan

Hi,

A discussion around this was raised a year ago where Netflix said that they would be changing their pricing structure for ad-based subscriptions. https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Stream/Sky-Stream-Netflix-ditches-Basic-tier/m-p/4365731#M10495

Had a text this morning from Sky saying that I'll automatically be put onto Netflix standard which is £4 a month. Regardless of the price, I'd like to know how to opt out of automatically being put onto Netflix standard and instead have it disabled/removed from my Sky package.

Sky have a page with further information https://www.sky.com/help/articles/changes-to-netflix-plan

I think customers should have an option to opt out. Unless I'm not looking in the right places, there doesn't seem to be an option anywhere to have Netflix disabled/removed when September arrives (in 2 weeks).

Thanks

Did the txt say Standard with ads or Standard?

If Standard you can downgrade to Standard with ads🤔

Re: Netflix basic - Opt out of automatic standard plan

The text said this..

"Important message from Sky: Netflix have discontinued their Netflix Basic plan. from September, Netflix Standard with ads will replace Netflix basic in your Sky Ultimate TV package. Watch in full HD, on two devices with ads. For more info visit https://sky.com/netflixchanges"

So sounds like I'll be bumped to the Standard with ads in September. I can't see a way of opting out.

Thanks

So the reason you have Netflix is because you have the Sky Ultimate TV pack. You would need to downgrade to the Sky Signature package i believe to remove Netflix.

I'd have to call them to confirm then, but I suspect this would then reset my package and the original deal with the package. It's a bit cheeky of them if that is the case and regardless of the price.

Re: Netflix basic - Opt out of automatic standard plan

Do you know if it is possible to cancel the whole package as a result of this? I don't want netflix with ads and if that was the offer at the time, I may not have taken out the deal as it would have been less attractive. I'm presuming Sky will say this is outside their control and therefore just have to suck it up?
