Multiple discounts ending

Hi,

Every couple of years, when my contract has been about to increase significantly, I've spoken with either the Sky VIP or Retention line.  The call has always resulted in significant reductions across the board, returning the package price close to where it was at the start of the previous period.

I currently have 5 discounts ending in December, resulting in a massive increase and I'd appreciate advice on the best approach to renegotiating the package. Is there still a number I can call, and if not, how can I tackle it?

Not that in means much, but I've been with Sky since the BSB merger back in 1991 and I'm Diamond VIP.

Thanks

David

There is no magic answer to this as you will just have to do what you have done in previous years.

@Flat+Top+David without wishing to dampen your expectations, recent posts suggest that the significant discounts of the past are unlikely to be forthcoming this time round. Be prepared to walk away if you can't negotiate a reasonable deal.

@Flat+Top+David

It's a bit early to be renegotiating yet.

If your discounted minimum term has ended or its ending soon the best new discounts are still normally acquired by contacting Sky and negotiating or potentially amending your package which will require a new 24 month minimum term contract.

’Significant’ discounts seem harder to come by these days so if you’re offered something acceptable be prepared to agree to it there and then because if you decide to think about it the offer is unlikely to be available when you call back. Also remember you’re not a new Sky customer so don’t expect anything on a par to a new customer deal.

See this link…

If you decide it’s no longer value for money and you’re thinking of changing providers remember that at the end of their minimum term you'll be in the same position with that company at which point you'll be able to return to Sky and benefit from the new customer discounts available at that particular time.

Re: Multiple discounts ending

Thanks for all the advice.

My 24 months is up on 19th December and the contract mentions 31 days notive.  So is the best time to call a few days before 19th November?

What is the best number to call?

To be honest, I'm sure I can find much better value by going elsewhere as I don't have Movies, Kids or the main Sports channels.

However, I need to maintain access to the Sky Sports F1 channel at home and via Sky Go.

Thanks

David

Hi @Flat+Top+David   As any discounts are difficult to come by now-a-days, from my personal experience, the best way is to give notice to cancel, and mean it. There is a good chance then that you will be put through to retentions (not guaranteed) and get an acceptable deal. Always make your decision there and then, no good calling back, the deal will be gone. There is no best number to call, they all go to the AI filter. In any case, telephone numbers are blocked in this community.
