Mis-selling to elderly

Hi really dissappointed in you SKY

I started looking at my elderly mothers sky account yesterday as her partner has just passed away and she needs to reduce bills and was really disspaointed to see she had been missold products and paying for them for the last 10 months, and now to make matters worse we are being told we will get a penalty to remove them.

While her partner was dealing with terminal cancel SKY called and persuaded her to extend her contract.  Despite telling them multiple times she did not want sky cinema she was told it was part of the package and essentially free of charge, however when I checked her products she has been paying £9 per month for a service she did not want and has never used.  She was also sold Broadband boost at £5 per month which was totally unnecessary.

To make matters worse I tried to cancel down the Sky cinema yesterday and was told I had to pay £60 even though the documentation states 0 months contract term against it.

Shame on you SKY for treating an elederly customer (or any) this way especially as at the same time you try and thank them for being a customer for 17 years!  That is some thanks.

Tempted to just pay a cancellation fee and ditch SKY all together

A complaint has been raised but feel free to reach out to me

Sorry @JM98 but you are not talking directly to Sky here as this is where customers help each other.

This gives Sky 8 weeks to resolve this issue and if they do not you can ask for a deadlock letter to take it further.

@JM98 welcome to this customer Community. It's unlikely that Sky will respond directly to your post here.

Given the circumstances you might wish to speak to Sky's Accessibility team,. They may have a wider ability to help: https://www.sky.com/help/accessibility-information/contacting-sky-accessibility/articles/contacting-...
